Overnight, Moldovan National Broadcaster TVM has revealed the names of the 37 songs and artists competing in the 2026 edition of Moldova's Eurovision national selection.

The live auditions are scheduled to take place on 16 December 2025. For the first time since 2015, the live auditions will not be broadcast. The top 5-10 entries from the live auditions will qualify for the final of the Moldovan national selection.

The final of Moldova's national selection will take place on 17 January (18 January Australian time), live from Arena Chișinău, where the winner will represent Moldova at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna, Austria.

The jury for the national selection will consist of 20 members; 5 international members and 15 Moldovan members. The winner will be decided by the international jury members (33%), the Moldovan jury members (33%) and public voting (33%).

TRM also intends to offer the winner of the selection a prize to support their preparations for Eurovision and the support of the producers through their journey to the competition.

Eurovision 2024 winner Nemo has announced they will send their trophy back to the EBU headquarters in Geneva following the decision to let Israel compete in next year's contest.

In a statement posted to Instagram on Thursday night, they said while they are grateful for Eurovision's community and the opportunities it has brought, values of unity, inclusion and dignity have not been upheld with choices and ideals of the EBU.

The full statement reads as follows:

"Last year I won Eurovision and with it I was awarded the trophy. And even thought I'm immensely grateful for the community around this contest and everything this experience has taught me both as a person and artist, today I no longer feel this trophy belongs on my shelf.

"Eurovision says it stands for unity, inclusion, and dignity for all. Those values made this contest meaningful to me. But Israel's continued participation, during what the UN's Independent International Commission of Inquiry has concluded to be a genocide, shows a clear conflict between those ideals and the decisions made by the EBU.

"This is not about individuals or artists. The contest was repeatedly used to soften the image of a state accused of severe wrongdoing, all while the EBU insisted Eurovision is "non-political". And when entire countries withdraw over this contradiction, it should be clear that something is clearly wrong.

"That's why I've decided that I'm sending my trophy back to the EBU headquarters in Geneva. With gratitude and a clear message.

"Live what you claim.

"If the values we celebrate onstafe aren't lived in offstage, then even the most beautiful songs lose their meaning. I'm waiting for the moment those words and actions align. Until then, this trophy is yours.

"Nemo."

The statement comes less than 24 hours after Iceland officially became the fifth nation to join the boycott of next year's Eurovision in Vienna.

Australian radio station @triple_j has opened the voting for its annual Hottest 100 countdown of the hottest songs of the year.

The Hottest 100 2025 will air on Triple J on Saturday 24 January 2026.

Eurovision and Australia Decides artists have made it to the long list, which you can include in your own top 10 song votes!

@jessicamauboy's Like A Version cover of World Turning, made the list, originally made famous by Yothu Yindi in 1993, features Malyangapa and Barkindji rapper Barkaa.

Eurovision fans may know Sydney-born singer @evieirie from her duet with Australian Eurovision artist Isaiah Firebrace in their Australia Decides 2022 entry When I'm With You.

Evie Irie has three original singles on this year's Hottest 100 long list, including Alter Ego, I'm Not Sorry, and Mercedes Medicated.

Her Like A Version cover of the Grammy-nominated Lana Del Rey song Norman Fucking Rockwell also features on the Triple J Hottest 100 2025 long list.

“We do not condone the violation of human rights. And we resist with culture, with Portuguese culture.”

A press release from the Icelandic broadcaster RÚV said:

"The Icelandic National Broadcasting Service has decided not to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, Austria next year.

The participation of the Israeli public broadcaster, KAN, in the contest has recently caused disagreement, both among the member stations of the Association of European Broadcasters, EBU, and the general public. KAN's participation was discussed in detail at EBU meetings earlier this year, first in London this summer and in Geneva last week. At the meeting in Geneva, a large majority of the EBU's member stations agreed that various changes made to the rules and conduct of the competition were satisfactory and therefore there was no vote on KAN's participation in the competition.

At the meeting in Geneva, the broadcaster explained that although the changes were in line with many of the comments made by representatives of RÚV at various stages of the EBU cooperation in recent years, there were still doubts in RÚV's view as to their effectiveness. It had repeatedly been stated that stakeholders in Iceland, such as artists' associations, and the Icelandic public were opposed to participation in the competition. The board of RÚV had also requested that the EBU remove KAN from the competition on the basis of precedents. The case was complicated and had already damaged the reputation of the competition and the EBU. It was important to find a solution for all concerned.

It is clear, based on the public debate in Iceland and the reaction to the EBU's decision made last week, that there will be neither joy nor peace about RÚV's participation in Eurovision. It is therefore the conclusion of RÚV to notify the EBU today that RÚV will not participate in Eurovision next year.

Söngvakeppnin and Eurovision Song Contest have always had the goal of uniting the Icelandic nation, but now it is clear that that goal will not be achieved and on those agenda grounds this decision is made.

No decision has been made on whether Söngvakeppnin will be held by RÚV next year.

A protest that concluded outside SBS offices in Melbourne has called on the Australian broadcaster to boycott Eurovision 2026.

The rally came after an EBU vote last week allowed Israel to participate in next year's Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna.

This saw four countries boycott so far: Ireland, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Spain. Iceland is set to make a decision on participating this week.

The estimated 600 protestors included Eurovision 2020 and 2021 artist Montaigne.

It was organised by Boycott Eurovision, which is endorsed by BDS Australia and Free Palestine Melbourne.

A petition of the group has collected 6,000 signatures.

Ahead of the march, organiser Stefano Perfili of Free Palestine Melbourne said:

"It's SBS - not the queer community, not artists, not everyday Australians - who are out of touch."

During the march, another organiser Mai Saif spoke to SBS News stating:

"SBS, our public broadcaster, has a responsibility not to platform a country that is committing war crimes, that is committing genocide."

In response to the protest, SBS published a statement saying:

"We respect the right for people to express their views peacefully and respectfully. SBS’s participation in and coverage of Eurovision will continue in 2026. Eurovision was created to bring people and cultures together through music, a purpose that continues to guide the contest and has shaped SBS’s broadcast for more than 40 years.

"Our position remains that, as a public broadcaster, making a decision to be involved based on the inclusion or exclusion of any country would undermine SBS’s editorial independence and impartiality. SBS recognises and respects the deeply held views and concerns about the war in the Middle East and its impact, both locally among our audiences and internationally as reflected by other broadcasters.

Our responsibility is to provide comprehensive, trusted and impartial coverage for Australians across our network, and we will continue to do so.”

Eurovision 2017 winner Salvador Sobral slams Portugal’s broadcaster RTP over its decision to compete in Eurovision 2026!

In a video he said:

“This political cowardice we have is consistent with the institutional cowardice of public institutions. It makes me sad, because it’s not just a political issue; it’s a human issue, and the decision is obvious. What I can do is make an appeal. I’m not against Festival da Canção - on the contrary. I think it should happen, because it’s a good showcase for Portuguese artists, singers, and songwriters. It’s extremely important: there are few showcases, and the radio stations only play American music.”

“So, for me, it’s simple: whoever wins Festival da Canção does not go to Eurovision. It’s an easy decision. The Festival can be held with another kind of reward. And if that’s not decided by the public broadcaster, then it’s up to the participating artists to have that clarity.”

Salvador’s comments come at a time when RTP employees have also expressed their disapproval, saying they find it "incomprehensible" that the broadcaster has confirmed Portugal's participation and voted in favor of the rules keeping Israel in Eurovision 2026, "ignoring the appeals of Portuguese artists and civil society".

They urge RTP to reconsider its position.

Next week, Icelandic broadcaster RÚV will decide whether they are joining the boycott against Israel in Eurovision.

Ahead of their decision, one of their most famous exports, the singer Björk has weighed in.

She took to X to share an article where Icelandic singer Páll Óskar Hjálmtýsson (aka Paul Oscar, who competed at Eurovision 1997) called on RÚV to withdraw.

In the article he stated:

"The fact that Israel is allowed to be included now after everything that has happened before simply means that the EBU is a scumbag, and even if the EBU is a scumbag who can't set limits, who can't set limits for war criminals, we don't have to be scumbags."

In response, Björk posted:

"We stand by every single word of Páll Óskar's and wish the RÚV board courage in decision-making on Wednesday. Think with the heart, thanks Páll Óskar x"

In 2019, Paul called for a boycott of Eurovision being held in Israel.

However, his comments received condemnation and accusations of anti-Semitism. He said at the time:

“The reason why the rest of Europe has been virtually silent is that Jews have woven themselves into the fabric of Europe in a very sly way for a very long time. It is not at all hip and cool to be pro-Palestine in Britain.”

“The tragedy is that Jews learned nothing from the Holocaust. Instead, they have taken up the exact same policy of their worst enemy.”

He apologised for his comments, stating:

“I made judgements and generalisations about Jewish people. … I take full responsibility for these words, take back my remarks about Jewish people, they are wrong and hurtful. I will take responsibility in actions, from this point forward, and will never again speak ill of the Jewish people, wherever in the world they may live.”

In September, Björk joined the No Music For Genocide movement, which means her music unavailable on streaming services in Israel.

Overnight, Australian time, the Director-General of Belgian broadcaster RTBF Jean-Paul Phillipot confirmed the broadcaster will participate in Vienna.

Jean-Paul Philippot insists that "our participation is therefore accompanied by a clear stance to denounce the obstacles to the freedom of information, to demand the protection of all citizens and journalists, and to guarantee their safe presence on the ground. Because culture is never entertainment detached from reality. Because the public service has a duty to remain faithful to humanity, editorial independence, and freedom. "

"the Eurovision Song Contest is one of those unique spaces where diversity, inclusion, and artistic freedom converge. Participating in Eurovision in 2026 cannot be done without looking at the world as it is, and without remembering that the duty to inform must be carried out with complete independence; that of giving citizens the tools to understand the issues facing the world is an essential democratic foundation. "

Iceland now remains the next country to possibly boycott, joining Ireland, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Spain.

The Icelandic broadcaster RUV, which had previously reserved the right not to participate, said it would consider its position at a board meeting on Wednesday.

Australia's broadcaster SBS has released a statement on its position following boycotts of Eurovision 2026 after the EBU approved Israel to compete.

Today, Spain, Slovenia, Ireland, and the Netherlands have announced that they have withdrawn from the Contest set to take place in Vienna next year due to Israel competing.

Iceland and Belgium are also discussing their position on participation in Eurovision next year.

Regarding these, developments SBS issued the ABC the following statement:

“SBS’s coverage of Eurovision will continue in 2026. Eurovision was created to bring people and cultures together through music, a purpose that continues to guide the contest and has shaped SBS’s broadcast for more than 40 years," a spokesperson said.

"Our position remains that, as a public broadcaster, making a decision to be involved based on the inclusion or exclusion of any country would undermine SBS’s editorial independence and impartiality. SBS recognises and respects the deeply held views and concerns about the war in the Middle East and its impact, both locally among our audiences and internationally, as reflected by other broadcasters.

Acts who have taken part in past editions of Pesma za Evroviziju include the Harem Girls who competed in 2025 with Aladin, and Zejna who competed in 2024 with Najbolja.

Pesma za Evroviziju 26 will be held sometime in February 2026. It will consist of two semi-finals and a Grand Final. The acts have not been allocated a semi-final yet.

This will be the fifth edition of Pesma za Evroviziju. Last year Princ won with Mila and represented Serbia at Eurovision where he finished 14th in semi-final 2.

Acts who have taken part in past editions of Pesma za Evroviziju include the Harem Girls who competed in 2025 with Aladin, and Zejna who competed in 2024 with Najbolja.

Pesma za Evroviziju 26 will be held sometime in February 2026. It will consist of two semi-finals and a Grand Final. The acts have not been allocated a semi-final yet.

This will be the fifth edition of Pesma za Evroviziju. Last year Princ won with Mila and represented Serbia at Eurovision where he finished 14th in semi-final 2.

Overnight, Maltese broadcaster PBS announced the names of the 18 artists competing to represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026.

The format of MESC 2026 will be simplified compared to recent years.

The national final will consist of one 18-song semi-final, to be held on Thursday, 15 January 2026, followed by a 12-song final on Saturday, 17 January 2026.

A Swedish white supremacist has been sentenced to prison after authorities uncovered a detailed plan to attack the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam.

The man, identified as 23-year-old Alexander H, had been living in Luxembourg, where he built a bomb making setup and drafted extensive plans for mass violence.

A fully equipped bomb workshop uncovered

Police discovered a complete explosives workshop in the basement of his home, including chemicals, tools, and components needed to construct bombs.

Investigators found a detailed document titled “Fun time for Eurovision 2020 For a Better and Less Overly Susceptible Future”, which set out multiple attack scenarios.

The plans included releasing chemical agents such as cyanide or chlorine gas inside an arena.

They also described launching explosive devices into crowds using rockets or other delivery mechanisms.

Some sections outlined ways to sabotage emergency exits so that people would become trapped inside during an attack.

Prosecutors said the level of detail showed clear intent and a willingness to cause mass casualties.

Authorities also presented evidence linking him to far-right groups including neo Nazi and eco fascist networks.

They said he had been sharing bomb making information and encouraging others to adopt violent extremist ideology.

Attack plans extended beyond Eurovision

The investigation revealed he had also considered sending a parcel bomb to a Swedish video production company.

He researched carrying out an attack on an oil depot in Sweden.

Communication logs showed discussions about these ideas with a suspected Dutch accomplice.

Prosecutors said the range of targets demonstrated a broader ambition for widespread violence rather than a single focused plot.

Documents out of Kazakhstan today reveal that a potential Eurovision debut has been discussed with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

The information, revealed by ESC KAZ, comes from the Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan.

The document states that:

“The Ministry highly values the importance of the Eurovision Song Contest as one of the world’s leading creative platforms, and recognises its significant role in cultural exchange and in promoting national art at the global level.”

It also reveals that over the summer, there was a meeting between Kazakh’s broadcaster Khabar Agency and the Director General of the EBU Noel Curran.

The documents states that:

“At present, the EBU has not made a decision on this matter, and the issue will be considered at the beginning of next year.”

However, the papers also reveal that finances look to be a significant issue.

“At the same time, even if a positive decision were to be made by the EBU, questions regarding Kazakhstan’s participation would remain open. According to the Agency’s assessment, participation in such a major international contest requires significant financial resources, and currently there is no approved budget to support this.”

The news comes ahead of an important EBU meeting this week where Israel’s participation will be discussed.

A number of countries will potentially boycott Eurovision 2026 if Israel competes.

It also follows news that Canada’s participation in Eurovision has been discussed.

Kazakhstan is an Associate Member of the EBU, meaning, like Australia it will need an invite to participate.

They have competed at Junior Eurovision on five occasions, finishing runner-up twice.

Australia’s Got Talent finalist, Eurovision - Australia Decides 2020 competitor, and First Nations artist Mitch Tambo’s single Yugal Yulu-gi has been nominated for the 2025 Environmental Music Prize.

The song is one of 30 finalists in contention for this year’s Environmental Music Prize, reflecting a variety of musical styles, moods, and attitudes, as well as Australia’s multicultural society.

The 30 finalists were selected by environmental leaders, music ambassadors, and impact partners for their ability to connect people to nature, encourage reflection, and inspire action for climate and conservation.

The Environmental Music Prize was launched during the United Nations Climate Change Conference in November 2021.

Originally launched as a quest to find a theme song to inspire action on climate and conservation, the prize, in partnership with Green Music Australia, aims to celebrate and amplify the voices of artists who inspire action for these environmental issues.

This year marks the third edition of the Environmental Music Prize, where the winner will receive $20 000 AUD.

The winner will be decided entirely by a public vote open to anyone worldwide. In 2023, people from 59 countries participated in the voting.

Eurovision organisers have released an update for the 2026 Contest including ticket news.

Austrian broadcaster ORF have revealed details about postcards, volunteering and most importantly for fans: tickets!

Ticket sales will begin with a registration phase where fans must sign up to be approved for future purchases.

This is, as Eurovision stated, “essential to ensure a regulated, fair and secure ticket-sales process.”

“The goal of registration is to ensure fair ticket access and prevent ‘bot purchases’ or commercial resale,” they added. ,

On Monday 24 November, more details of the ticket and registration will be revealed.

German Eurovision act @cascada_official has performed to crowds at Sydney’s Raydia Festival.

Cascada, which was originally a trio, is now a solo show led by lead singer Natalie Horler.

They competed at Eurovision in 2013 with Glorious finishing 21st on the night.

It was a tough result for them as they had many top hits across Europe, including Everytime We Touch and Evacuate the Dancefloor. The latter reached No.3 in Australia.

Natalie put on a full production show in front of a huge crowd at the largest Australian LGBTQIA+ music festival of 2025.

The reception was universal with fans complimenting the show and her voice.

“The icon that she is! What a performance,” one fan posted.

While others said “She’s a saint” while many were surprised by her voice posting “She can sing!”

Cascada already on her way home

Those hoping for more Australian Cascada shows, will be disappointed.

After performing Saturday night, Natalie had a day at Bondi Becah before flying out Sunday night.

She praised the festival and the crowd.

“Australia is done, we had the best time at the Raydia Festival, she said.

“Everyone went off, we had the best time ever.”

“I had a lovely day at the beach, it was lovely weather, got a tan.”

Natalie is now off to perform in Germany this week and turn on the Christmas lights in Perth, Scotland.
