Could Midnight Til Morning represent Australia at Eurovision 2027?

Australian-American boy band Midnight Til Morning are currently touring Europe, with Australia's 2025 Eurovision representative Go-Jo joining them for selected shows.
It comes at an interesting time, with the final months of the year traditionally being when SBS considers potential artists and songs for the following Eurovision Song Contest.
So could Midnight Til Morning be in the running to represent Australia in 2027?
Who are Midnight Til Morning?
The four-piece pop-rock group formed on the Netflix reality series Building the Band, bringing together Australians Conor Smith and Mason Watts with Americans Shane Appell and Zach Newbould.
Despite not winning the competition, the group quickly developed an international following, signing with Australian music company Chugg Music and releasing their debut EP Afterglow.
They have since toured internationally, building a substantial fanbase along the way. The group currently boasts more than 400,000 Instagram followers and around 370,000 on TikTok.
Aussievision previously put forward Midnight Til Morning as a potential Australian Eurovision representative for 2026, and their profile has continued to grow since then.
The Eurovision connections

One of the strongest arguments for Midnight Til Morning is their relationship with Chugg Music, a company with an established history of involvement in Australia's Eurovision selections.
The company represents Go-Jo, who competed for Australia in 2025 with Milkshake Man, as well as Brisbane pop group Sheppard.
Sheppard have been involved in Australia's Eurovision selection process for several years, finishing third at Eurovision - Australia Decides in 2019 with On My Way.
They subsequently submitted Edge of the Earth for consideration in 2024, while George and Amy Sheppard, alongside Jason Bovino, helped write Go-Jo's 2025 entry.
That means Chugg Music has experience not only with submitting songs and artists for Eurovision, but also with promoting an Australian representative internationally.
With Go-Jo now supporting Midnight Til Morning on parts of their European tour, the relationship between the two acts is particularly interesting.
There is also another significant songwriting connection.
Midnight Til Morning have previously worked on music with Australian songwriting and production duo DNA Songs, who were behind Dami Im's Sound of Silence, Isaiah's Don't Come Easy and Jessica Mauboy's We Got Love.
The group have even recently shared a cover of Loreen's Eurovision 2023 winning song Tattoo on social media.
Individually, none of these connections necessarily suggests a Eurovision appearance.
Together, however, they show that Midnight Til Morning already have relationships with several people who know the Contest and Australia's selection process well.
Could a boy band work for Australia?
Australia has never sent a traditional boy band to Eurovision, and Midnight Til Morning would certainly offer something different.
The group already has international touring experience, television exposure and a substantial social media following.
Their Australian-American makeup could also be an advantage, particularly through the Rest of the World vote, which allows fans in the United States and other non-participating countries to support their favourite entries.
An established international audience could provide a useful starting point, although Eurovision success would ultimately depend on the song and performance.
Interestingly, Australia may not be the only country considering a boy band for 2027.
There has also been speculation surrounding December 10, the boy band formed through Simon Cowell's Netflix series Simon Cowell: The Next Act, potentially representing the United Kingdom.
While nothing has been confirmed, two boy bands competing in the same year could make it more difficult for either act to stand out, particularly if they were appealing to a similar audience.
Following Delta Goodrem
Another consideration is how SBS approaches Eurovision 2027 following Delta Goodrem's successful campaign this year.
Her fourth-place finish with Eclipse was Australia's best result in a decade, bringing the country back into the Eurovision Top 5.
Finding another household name with Delta's profile would be no easy task, and SBS may not necessarily want to repeat the same approach.
An emerging group with international appeal, an existing fanbase and strong industry backing could be an attractive alternative.
Midnight Til Morning would tick several of those boxes.
Working with Chugg Music would also give SBS a familiar team with experience of the Contest, while the group's international touring schedule and growing popularity suggest an act with ambitions well beyond Australia.
Of course, there has been no official indication of who SBS is considering for Eurovision 2027, and the broadcaster has plenty of potential directions it could take.
But with their international profile continuing to grow, connections to previous Australian Eurovision entries and an experienced team behind them, Midnight Til Morning are certainly worth keeping an eye on.
Could they be the ones to follow Delta Goodrem onto the Eurovision stage?
We'll have to wait and see.
