Eurovision - Australia Decides stars Sheppard have released their first new single in over a year: Beautiful Nothing.

“If life has you overwhelmed, anxious, or just needing a day to switch off from the grind, we wrote this for you,” the band said on Instagram.

The release caps a huge year for Sheppard.
George co-wrote Australia’s Eurovision entry Milkshake Man and sang backing vocals, while Amy’s solo album Born to Be Country just hit No.1 on the ARIA Country Album Chart.
She also announced her pregnancy after sharing her fertility journey.
The band also toured North America and Europe off the back of their ARIA Top 10 album Zora.

Sheppard finished 3rd at the first Australia Decides with On My Way and have continued their close ties to Eurovision since.

Today @keggs87 makes the case for why @privatefunction69 should represent Australia at Eurovision 2026!

Private Function are a punk and pub rock band from Melbourne who formed in 2016.

Their current lineup includes front man Chris Penney, bassist Milla Holland, drummer Aidan McDonald, lead guitarist Anthony Biancofiore and rhythm guitarist Lauren Hester, along with occasional keyboardist and percussionist James Macleod.

They have become known for their high energy, rowdy live shows, larrikin humour and eye-raising marketing stunts.

For their debut album in 2019, they used the same title and artwork as Metallica's divisive and mostly unpopular 2003 album St. Anger.

Upon releasing their fourth album ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ earlier this year, they put on sale a limited edition vinyl variant, which was scented like Gwyneth Paltrow's infamous vagina candle.

Most of their tracks have spoofy titles playing on the aforementioned larrikin humour, or focus on Aussie slang and lifestyle.

Their most well known tracks include I Wish Australia Had Its Guns Again, Albury Wodonga, Justavinageez, Dial Before You Dig, White Lady Funerals, Passion Pop, Bad Day To Be A Beer and F**k Me Dead.

I'll be real - a band whose back catalogue has tracks including I Wish Australia Had Its Guns Again is obviously not going to be the most PC-friendly choice for an international pop song contest - even though the song topic is a satirical take on Australia and US's differences with gun laws.

But much like Go-Jo this year, Private Function have a bit of a 'novelty' factor to them that is endearing and draws eyeballs.

Think Iceland's Hatari and their industrial metal from 2019, albeit with some tongue in cheek, and a thrashy punk rock sound.

Anyone who has seen their live shows knows how off the chain they can be. It's been too long since we've seen some real rock star moves at Eurovision, like Lordi's drummer throwing his drumsticks into the crowd in 2006, or a (kinda half-assed) crowd surf from the bass player in Hungary's AWS in 2019.

Australian singer @bobiandonovofficial, who has heritage from North Macedonia, met with the broadcaster to pitch his representation, ESC Discord revealed.

As we reported in July, the former Junior Eurovision artist had made his intentions clear in telling publication Слободен Печат (Sloboden Pechat),

"No matter where music has taken me, whether in America, Australia or Europe, I have never forgotten my home," he said.

"Macedonia is in my blood. As an artist, I have grown a lot and now I feel ready to bring something strong back to the country that raised me. Eurovision seems to me like the perfect opportunity to connect with the people and give something valuable."

The meeting notes mention that Bobi presented his case, including his achievements, promotional campaign details and even where and how the music video could be shot.

He also claimed he had agreed funding via an Australian Government body responsible for authors and composers to provide financial support and media coverage if he was selected.

Following the reports, Bobi took to Instagram to provide an update:

"Eurovision 2026 would've been amazing, but after speaking with MRT, it looks like everything's moving towards 2027 - and honestly, it feels right. This gives me time to build it properly and make it unforgettable."

North Macedonia hasn't competed at Eurovision since 2022, although it's looking more promising that they will make a return.

Eurovision 2022 runner-up @samhairwolfryder has released his second studio album Heartland.

The 13-track release is the follow-up to his 2022 debut album There's Nothing But Space, Man!, which entered the UK charts at number 1 and is certified Gold.

Before participating in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Sam Ryder rose to fame on TikTok, where he began posting his viral music covers during the first lockdown of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.

He caught the the attention of famous musicians such as Elton John, Sia, Justin Bieber, and Alicia Keys. By the end of 2020, he was the most-followed UK artist on the platform, signing a record contract with Parlophone.

When White Lies, the lead single from his new album Heartland, was released, Sam Ryder spoke to Official Charts about his journey into the next chapter of his music career as an independent artist, following his departure from his record label after a successful Eurovision tilt.

"It’s going back to where the foundations were laid," he explained.

"I have so much to thank the major system for – I truly mean that with my whole heart.

"What we did when we were picked up for Eurovision, talking of building worlds, I knew I had to build a world that would work for Eurovision."

He continued: "Creating that world – the jumpsuits, everything like that – was necessary because I was a massive fan of that institution and I knew in my gut how to approach it.

"I knew how to build something that’d feel larger than life on that stage. But Eurovision was only a chapter of the book, and now we’re building a new world for this next record."

Speaking about Heartland in a press release, Sam Ryder said:

"This record is a collection of songs attempting to convey the feeling of the last couple of years. The wish is to find a connection with you no matter where you are in the world, whether it’s flying high or feeling like you’re the only ship out on the ocean."

Heartland is available to stream now on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and other streaming services.

News overnight: The EBU has postponed its November vote on Israel’s participation in Eurovision 2026 due to ongoing peace talks.

As reported by Der Standard, an Austrian daily newspaper, the regular EBU Annual General Meeting will take place in December.

Israel’s participation will still be discussed, but no vote is currently planned.

"There is a clear need to organise an open and personal discussion among its members on participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026" the EBU said in a statement.

Today October 12 is Spain's national day Día de la Hispanidad which translates to Spanishness Day.

Like its name suggests, the national day celebrates Spain's history, culture and achievements. The date coincides with the day Christopher Columbus first reached the Americas on October 12, 1492.

To commemorate the day we have ranked all the Spanish Eurovision entries based on Spotify streams.

ICYMI: What SBS told the Senate about Israel and Eurovision participation

During Senate Estimates Greens Senator Mehreen Faruqi challenged SBS over its plan to broadcast the contest if Israel takes part.

“Israel is also set to attend and will perform pop songs while the State of Israel bombs and buries Palestinian children under rubble.”

Faruqi noted that Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia and Ireland had all indicated they would withdraw, asking,

“If Israel participates… will you also withdraw, or will you provide cover for Israel?”

SBS Acting Managing Director Jane
Palfreyman replied,

“We intend to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest,” she said.

She told senators the broadcaster would not take a stance because “impartiality is a bedrock of who we are and our reason for being.” She added,

“It’s not appropriate for us to form a view on this. It is a matter for the EBU. We’re aware they’re going to vote with members in November, and we’ll look forward to hearing the outcome of that.”

Greens Senator David Shoebridge asked how many complaints SBS had received about its Eurovision stance and whether it had engaged with Palestinian communities.

Palfreyman said there were no formal Code complaints but around 150 pieces of audience feedback since January, “peaking in the latter half of September.”

“We regularly engage through many parts of our network… to understand and solicit the views of our communities to inform our position,” she said.

When asked specifically if SBS had contacted Palestinian representatives, Palfreyman said the broadcaster would take the question on notice and respond later.

Greece's Eurovision 2025 star @klavdiaitiz is heading Down Under as the support act for @argiros_konstantinos’ highly anticipated The Greek Dream Tour, where the duo will be performing in Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney.

The Greek goddess shined at Eurovision 2025 in Basel with her entry Asteromata which finished in sixth place in the Grand Final. She achieved Greece's third top 10 result in a decade and their best placing since 2013.

In 2025 Klavdia went into the Greek Eurovision national final Ethinkos Telikos as one of the favourites. She went on to finish in first place in the overall vote of the international juries and the public televote earning her a spot to represent Greece in Basel.

At Eurovision the Australian televote awarded Klavdia 5 points in her semi-final and 7 points in the Grand Final. The Aussie jury awarded her their douze points in the Grand Final. It was the first time an Australian jury has awarded Greece with 12 points at Eurovision.

Klavdia being partnered with Konstantinos Argiros is a huge step in her career. The tour will mark her first live appearances in Australia.

Konstantinos Argiros is one of Greece’s most popular contemporary singers. He is best known for his huge hits Ximeromata, Athina Mou and Elpida.

Greece's Eurovision 2025 star @klavdiaitiz is heading Down Under as the support act for @argiros_konstantinos’ highly anticipated The Greek Dream Tour, where the duo will be performing in Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney.

The Greek goddess shined at Eurovision 2025 in Basel with her entry Asteromata which finished in sixth place in the Grand Final. She achieved Greece's third top 10 result in a decade and their best placing since 2013.

In 2025 Klavdia went into the Greek Eurovision national final Ethinkos Telikos as one of the favourites. She went on to finish in first place in the overall vote of the international juries and the public televote earning her a spot to represent Greece in Basel.

At Eurovision the Australian televote awarded Klavdia 5 points in her semi-final and 7 points in the Grand Final. The Aussie jury awarded her their douze points in the Grand Final. It was the first time an Australian jury has awarded Greece with 12 points at Eurovision.

Klavdia being partnered with Konstantinos Argiros is a huge step in her career. The tour will mark her first live appearances in Australia.

Midnight Til Morning are a trans-Pacific pop-rock group formed through the hit Netflix series Building The Band.

The four members, Australians Conor Smith and Mason Watts, alongside Americans Shane Appell and Zach Newbould, first met as solo performers before discovering undeniable chemistry as a band. Their harmonies, stage presence, and natural charisma quickly made them fan favourites on the show.

Though eliminated just before the final, the group’s momentum only grew.

Straight after the show they were signed by music label Chugg Music, home to acts like Sheppard, Lime Cordiale, and Australia’s Eurovision 2025 artist Go-Jo.
