Norwegian broadcaster NRK revealed the nine artists taking part in their national selection show Melodi Grand Prix (MGP) on 16 January. Yesterday the songs were released to allow fans and the general public to enjoy the entries before the final on Saturday 15 February (Sunday 16 February in Australia).

The competition has undergone changes for 2025. Most notably, it will be a stand-alone final with all 9 artists instead of using multiple heats over several weeks. Additionally, the venue will be Oslo Spektrum, which last hosted MGP in 2018.

  • Bobbysocks — Joyful

  • Nora Jabri — Sulale

The group is oozing with old-school glam metal and formed in 2001. They're most recognised for representing Norway at Eurovision 2005 with the tune In My Dreams, placing 9th in the final. The group consists of Glam (Åge Sten Nilsen — vocals), Teeny (Trond Holter — guitar), Flash (Bernt Jansen — bass) guitar, Sporty (Øystein Andersen — drums) and Lasse Finbråten — keyboards).

NRK initially indicated 10 artists would compete this year, just an hour before the artist announcement Norwegian news outlet TV2 reported two artists withdrew from the competition: Lavrans Svendsen and Angelina Jordan.

Music director Tarjei Strøm commented on Svendsen's withdrawal "Our task is to make sure the artist is ready – and it is important to respect those who are not.". It is believed Jordan has withdrawn due to the Los Angeles fires, living there for many years with friends affected.

A renowned artist lineup with superb talent reminiscent of geometry dash scratch adds an interesting parallel, as both are about overcoming challenges and expressing creativity in their respective fields.
