New music and tour news from Australian Eurovision artists: June 2022



Today we look back at all the latest music releases, videos, show and up coming tour news from Australian Eurovision, Junior Eurovision and ‘Eurovision - Australia Decides’ artists throughout mid-March to June.


New music:


Electric Fields - 'Catastrophe'

Released: 18 March 2022


‘Eurovision - Australia Decides 2019’ runner-ups Electric Fields have released their follow up to 'Gold Energy’, their first single of the year, 'Catastrophe'.


The duo have described their new release, ‘Catastrophe’ as "a soundtrack for connecting to our spirit, catching us as the ground disappears beneath our feet,”. They have called it “a beautiful record about surrender, which feels particularly relevant to the challenging times we have all experienced these last few years”.

Kate Miller-Heidke - 'Child In Reverse' (Deluxe Edition)

Released: 18 March 2022


Australia's Eurovision 2019 representative Kate Miller-Heidke has released a Deluxe Edition of her latest album release 'Child In Reverse' which includes 10 new songs. The new additions includes Kate's epic duet with Jaguar Jonze 'You Can't Hurt Me Anymore', and live versions pf various songs including Kate's Eurovision entry 'Zero Gravity' live at ABC's New Years Eve show 2020.




Paulini and Bradley McCaw - 'Someone Like You'

Released: 18 March 2022


'Eurovision - Australia Decides 2022' artist Paulini released a duet with country singer and songwriter Bradley McCaw called 'Someone Like You'. Both artists deliver amazing chemistry in this stunning upbeat track, which is evident in their music video.


'Someone Like You' features Louie Shelton on guitar, who has worked with the Jackson 5, Lionel Ritchie, Boz Scaggs and John Lennon, and Nathan East on bass who has worked with many artists including Daft Punk and Phil Collins.



Vanessa Amorosi - 'City of Angels' Album

Released: 18 March 2022


'Eurovision - Australia Decides' 2020 artist Vanessa Amorosi released her seventh studio album 'City of Angels'. It is her first self produced album. During promotion for the album Amorosi revealed the release as the "most Vanessa Amorosi album" yet. It's an album that she wants her fans to go on a journey on. 'Crash Now Burn' was released as a single.


'City of Angels' reached No. 7 on the Australian Album chart and No. 1 on the Australian Independent Albums AIR chart.




Didirri - 'Begin Again'

Released: 30 March 2022


It's a new beginning for the 'Eurovision - Australia Decides' 2020 artist Didirri with his latest single 'Begin Again', which is set to be off his upcoming debut album.


In a press release Didirri explained the the song’s inwardly reflective sentiments.


“Old feelings can become as fresh as they ever were by a touch in the right place or by the look in their eyes. There has been a rebirth in me. A new (and old) sense of creativity, of purpose and of love.


“Something has changed in me and I don’t see myself going back anytime soon. This song is an attempt to capture this feeling. I feel alive and present like I haven’t since I first fell for the music. ‘Begin Again’ is the jumping off point of a new chapter that I can put to my name and run with for a long time to come.”


Along with the new single Didirri announced a new tour in June where he will travel to Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Byron Bay, get all the details and ticket info here.

Jaguar Jonze - 'TRIGGER HAPPY'

Released: 5 April 2022


'Eurovision - Australia Decides' 2022 jury winner Jaguar Jonze released another follow up to her Australia Decides entry with 'TRIGGER HAPPY'. The song was released along with the announcement of Jaguar's new album 'BUNNY MODE', released on June 3.


The music video for 'TRIGGER HAPPY' was directed, edited and produced by Jaguar herself. It includes visual nods to earlier videos and was cleverly shot guerilla style during breaks in her album cover photoshoot.



Jordan Anthony - 'Firing Line (Thelin Remix)'

Released: 8 April 2022


Following Jordan Anthony's new music release for 'Firing Line' on October 1 in 2021 the Australian Junior Eurovision artist released an official remix of his latest single 'Firing Line (Thelin Remix)'.


Thelin is originally from the United Kingdom. He is an Australian-based music producer and DJ who loves both Electronic Dance Music and House Music. Thelin takes inspiration from his favourite artists, including Avicii, Twenty One Pilots, Rudimental and more, applying their production techniques to his own music whilst having his own sound.



Amy Sheppard - 'Nothing But Wild'

Released: 21 April 2022


One third of Sheppard from 'Eurovision - Australia Decides' 2019, Amy Sheppard, has gone solo and released her debut single 'Nothing But Wild'.


The country song explores Amy's desire to escape the city and "to reconnect with her wild side and natural surroundings". 'Nothing But Wild' is a perfect blend of poop and country that needs to played while going on a car ride with the windows down and the breeze running through your hair.



Tina Says featuring Jude York - 'Barriers'

Released: 22 April 2022


The Prince of this year's 'Eurovision - Australia Decides' who gave us, 'I Won't Need to Dream', Jude York, has collaborated with Perth producer Tina Says in a touching intimate dance number, 'Barriers'.


In an interview with AcidStag Tina talked about the new release.


“During a time of constant setbacks, plans happening and then not, uncertainty – my world was rocked. This experience made me go back over some old projects. I was resonating with emotive driven and expressive ideas, basically sounds that make you feel. I believe that different experiences and moods lead you to craving certain sounds as a producer, this time it leads me to wanting to finish ‘Barriers’. Once I did, I sent the track out to a few singers and when Jude York sent his back, his vocals and lyrics sent shivers down my spine and it gave me a buzz, that’s how I knew it was the perfect fit.”



Sheldon Riley - 'Hold Me Closer'

Released: 23 April 2022


Australia's Eurovision 2022 representative Sheldon Riley recorded a cover of Cornelia Jakobs' Eurovision 2022 song 'Hold Me Closer' as part of Eurovision House Party.


'Hold Me Closer' was Sweden's entry this year in Turin which was performed by Cornelia in semi-final two, the same semi-final as Sheldon.


The emotional ballad is about the difficult end of a relationship, and is co-written by Cornelia in conjunction with her songwriter best friend Isa Molin and writer and producer David Zandén.


Sheldon showcased his strong vocals in this cover version of the song. He publicly stated his love for 'Hold Me Closer' on various occasions.



Drella - 'Night Crawls'

Released: 4 May 2022


Drella is a Melbourne artist who represented F.Y.R Macedonia at Junior Eurovision in 2008 as Bobi Andonov, when he was 14-years-old, with ‘Prati mi SMS’ which finished in 5th place which is equal best placed entry for the Balkan country. 14 years later the young singer songwriter released his long awaited music debut under his new name Drella called 'Until the Morning’ back in January.


He has now released his follow up single 'Night Crawls' which was co-written by Drella along with Dylan Bauld and Sam Watters. It is a dark-pop number where Drella showcases his unique vocals. He is set to release an EP during the year.



Jaguar Jonze - 'PUNCHLINE'

Released: 5 May 2022


'Eurovision - Australia Decides' 2022 jury winner Jaguar Jonze released another single ahead of her debut album release of 'BUNNY MODE'.


'PUNCHLINE' is the fifth single release from the album. The production is very edgy

yet dark with glitchy production, electrifying guitars and eerie samples. Jaguar takes aim at the watering down of women of colour in the music industry, who are moulded to fit into certain boxes and appear a certain way.



Mark Vincent - 'In the Eyes of a Child'

Released: 6 May 2022


'Eurovision - Australia Decides' 2019 artist Mark Vincent has released his 10th studio album 'In the Eyes of a Child' which features covers of huge hits from Mariah Carey, Freddie Mercury, Celine Dion just to name a few.


The new album comes after a big few years for Mark who recently got married and welcomed two children, two sons named Matteo and Santino. 'In the Eyes of a Child' peaked at No. 41 on the ARIA Album chart.



Montaigne - 'alwys b u /// remixed' EP

Released: 6 May 2022


Australia's Eurovision 2021 representative Montaigne has released an EP of remixes of her her new single 'Always Be You' in collaboration with David Byrne, called 'alwys b u /// remixed' EP. David is the frontman from the new wave group Talking Heads. He is also known for his adventurous solo career. Montaigne performed ‘Always Be You’ live on the Australia Decides stage on the Gold Coast in February. You can read more about the release here.



Jessica Mauboy - 'Automatic'

Released: 8 May 2022


Australia's 2018 Eurovision representative Jessica Mauboy released her first single of the year 'Automatic', along with a racy music video.


The single was written by Jessica in conjunction with Cosmo & Patrick Liney (Cosmo's Midnight) and Sophie Curtis (ASTON) and produced by George Reid, one half of UK duo AlunaGeorge.




Seann Miley Moore — ‘My Body (Stripped)' Music Video

Released: 11 May 2022


‘Eurovision - Australia Decides’ 2022 artist Seann Miley Moore gave us body, body, body on the Gold Coast stage. Straight after the Australia Decides weekend Seann released a beautiful stripped back version of his entry. This version showcases his amazing vocal range - what a voice! During Eurovision week this year Seann released the very intimate music video for ‘My Body (Stripped)'.



Alexa Curtis - 'Dejavu'

Released: 20 May 2022


Australia's 2016 Junior Eurovision representative Alexa Curtis released her latest single 'Dejavu'. The electro pop track was written by Alexa in conjunction with Amir Malik, Erin McKellar and Sophie Curtis. You can read all about the new release here.



Jael Wena - 'Don't Start Now (The Voice Australia 2022 Performance / Live)'

Released: 22 May 2022


Australia's 2018 Junior Eurovision representative Jael Wena competed in the season 11 of 'The Voice Australia'. Jael made it all the way to the Semi-Final where she unfortunately got eliminated. In the Semi-Final Jael sung Dua Lipa's massive hit 'Don't Start Now' which was released as a single.


Also a version of 'Thriller' was released on May 15 where Jael covered Michael Jackson's classic song with Richard Tanumi which the duo sung competing in the battle round of 'The Voice Australia'. You can check that out here.



Montaigne and Daði Freyr - 'make me feel so...'

Released: 27 May 2022


Australia's Eurovision 2021 representative Montaigne released a new single with Iceland's Eurovision 2021 representative Daði Freyr called 'make me feel so...', it is a follow up for Montaigne's earlier single release 'Always Be You'. You can read all about their joint effort here.



Jaguar Jonze - 'BUNNY MODE'

Released: 3 June 2022


Jaguar Jonze released her highly anticipated debut album, 'BUNNY MODE'. Along with the album release Jaguar also released a music video for 'SWALLOW' off her debut album.


When it comes to the birth of 'BUNNY MODE' Jaguar creates a unique and cinematic patchwork of stadium pop, industrial noise, and punchy punk energy as she moves past an old coping mechanism that she calls “going bunny mode” becoming still and quiet instead of crying out in response to physical, psychological and emotional threats. Voyager - 'White Shadow (Live)'

Released: 9 June 2022


This years Australia Decides televote winners, Voyager, have released a live version of 'White Shadow', off their upcoming live album release 'A Voyage Through Time'.


The Aussie electro rockers celebrate 20 years in the music industry and had delivered a light-hearted live stream, 'A Voyage Through Time' which is now being officially released for the fans. The set list covers their vibrant and varied back catalogue celebrating their seven studio album releases.


'White Shadow' is originally off Voyager's 2007’s self-titled release.




Tasman Keith featuring Jessica Mauboy - 'HEAVEN WITH U'

Released: 22 June 2022


Australia's Eurovision 2018 representative Jessica Mauboy has collaborated with rapper and songwriter Tasman Keith on a new song release, 'HEAVEN WITH U'. The song is taken off Keith's upcoming studio album 'A Colour Undone'.


In a statement about the new release Keith explained the song:


“HEAVEN WITH U was a song that I wrote to myself, a song about finding the blissfulness and enlightenment internally which in turn will have you see it in others... As soon as I had the song, I knew the one thing it needed was something only Jess could provide. Having a friendship with somebody who has been at the forefront of Australian pop is one thing but having a shared respect and understanding for each other through our heritage is another, and then to have that same person on a record is something beyond.”



Alfie Arcuri - 'OVERTIME'

Released: 24 June 2022


'Eurovision - Australia Decides' 2019 artist and New Wave 2021 contestant, Alfie Arcuri, has released a new dark pop single 'OVERTIME'.


The song is written by Arcuri along with Sydney based R&B and neo-soul singer Chelsea Warner. In a post on Instagram Arcuri explained that 'OVERTIME' is a personal song that many will relate to:


"The song is about anxiety.. something that has followed me around for as long as I can remember.. for anyone else who experiences this, I hope at the very least this song tells you that you aren't alone."


Arcuri has also released a music video for the new single.



New shows and tours:


Casey Donovan - '9 to 5: The Musical'

Dates: Currently in Brisbane, Melbourne (July) and Adelaide (October)


'Eurovision - Australia Decides' 2020 televote winner Casey Donovan is staring in the Australian production of Dolly Parton's musical '9 to 5' as the newly separated new recruit Judy Bernly.


The score of the musical is by Dolly Parton herself and includes the much-loved song, '9 to 5'. This West-End hit is the quintessential feel-good show for the times. Full of mischief, laughter and affection, it’s gold carat fun!




Electric Fields - 'Electric Fields + MSO'

Dates and venue: 7 July, Hamer Hall, Southbank, Victoria

'Eurovision - Australia Decides' 2019 runner-ups, Electric Fields, are set to collaborate with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra where the Adelaide duo will give their epic sounds and get the orchestral treatment in their debut concert with the MSO for NAIDOC Week.

Paulini - 'Paulini Sings the American Divas'

Dates and venue: 8 July 2022, at the Regal Theatre in Adelaide

Idol star and 'Eurovision - Australia Decides' artist, Paulini is also set to star in the 'Priscilla Queen of the Desert' in the Gold Coast.

Based on the Oscar-winning film, 'Priscilla' is the hilarious adventure of three friends who hop aboard a battered old bus bound for Alice Springs to put on the show of a lifetime. Their epic journey is a heart-warming story of self-discovery, sassiness and acceptance. Diana Rouvas - 'Diana Rouvas LIVE'

Dates: July 29 (Seaforth, NSW) & August 11 (Marrickville, NSW)


'Eurovision - Australia Decides' 2020 artist and The Voice 2019 winner, Diana Rouvas is back with two new shows!

Paulini - 'Rock! Pop! Opera!'

Dates and venue: 7 August 2022, Concert Hall at QPAC, Brisbane


Paulini will be wowing audiences in Brisbane with her 'Rock! Pop! Opera!' show at the beautiful QPAC. She will be joined by internationally renowned Soprano, Mirusia, and ‘Soul Mama’ ultra-powerhouse Angie Narayan, together with an electric 11-piece band.

Ella Hooper - 'Acoustic Trio'

Dates: 18 August 2022 (Northern Territory) & 20 August 2022 (Queensland)


The very first 'Eurovision - Australia Decides' artist to perform on the Gold Coast, Ella Hooper, is back in a new show in called 'Acoustic Trio'.


She will be performing in Townsville and Alice Springs! She will be performing with gusto in her favourite low key story-full format singing new and old songs including some covers. You can get tickets to the show here.



Voyager - 'Australia 2022 Tour'

Date: 19 to 21 August 2022 (Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane)


After wowing audiences at 'Eurovision - Australia Decides', Voyager are embarking on a tour across the east coast of Australia visiting Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in August.

After their Aussie tour the Perth group will head overseas in a European tour supporting Vola. Montaigne - 'Holding Achilles'

Dates and venue: 29 August to 10 September 2022 at QPAC for Brisbane Festival


Eurovision 2021 artist Montaigne has composed music and will be performing in the world premiere production of 'Holding Achilles', as part of Brisbane Festival.


Set against the epic violence of the Trojan War, 'Holding Achilles' by David Morton is a refreshing take on one of the ancient world’s best-known heroes, and his relationship with Patroclus, his not so well-known lover.


This breathtaking new production from visual theatre masterminds Dead Puppet Society and physical theatre virtuosos Legs On The Wall reclaims the queer aspects of The Iliad. Set to a haunting new score performed live by Montaigne, composed with Tony Buchen and Chris Bear, this innovative new work blends heightened physicality and visual storytelling with an ensemble cast to weave a legend of mythic proportions. A tale of trials, grief and love – Holding Achilles is an epic tale about a fearless bond forged in the toughest of times.




Jessica Mauboy & Dami Im - 'Uluru & Jessica Mauboy Collection'

Date: October 2022


Imagine Holidays and Jessica Mauboy are presenting a once in a lifetime experience in the Australian outback at the iconic Uluru. Supporting act will be Eurovision royalty Dami Im.

Jack Vidgen - 'Diva Energy'

Date: 12 November 2022


'Eurovision - Australia Decides' 2020 artist Jack Vidgen has been very busy with a new show set for Adelaide on November 12 at The Regal Theatre!


Jack will be delivering a non forgettable Diva’esque show performing dance floor faves including the best of the 80’s and 90’s. Throw some Chaka, Whitney, and Proud Mary into a show with musicians and one of the greatest voices in Australia, Jack Vidgen, and you get Diva Energy.


Jack has also started a new podcast called 'Hey Doll!' along with Tom Whitaker where the duo talk about the latest on what Jack is currently working on and goss from Jack's past.
