Delta Goodrem returns to Strictly Come Dancing with rumba to Celine Dion classic, scoring first 10 of series

Following a bye last week due to a rib injury, Delta Goodrem has made a triumphant return to the Strictly Come Dancing stage, impressing the judges with her performance of the rumba to the Celine Dion classic hit It's All Coming Back To Me Now.
The dance earned Delta and professional partner Kai Widdrington a score of 34 out of 40, putting them in second place overall on the Strictly leaderboard this week.
An impressive performance
Delta and Kai brought a beautiful, graceful rumba to the Strictly stage, with the Aussie Eurovision star showcasing a confident performance as she recovers from her rib injury. And of course, in true Eurovision style, Delta worked the wind machine!
Delta and Kai received plenty of positive feedback from the judges for their routine.
Motsi Mabuse remarked: "I missed you. Welcome back, I absolutely loved that!" calling the pair's routine "one of the best rumbas I've seen in the show"
Shirley Ballas commented: "You could say I loved your rumba! Well done!"
Anton Du Beke said of the performance:
"This is my favourite dance of the series by a million miles and it's as good as I've seen a rumba!"
Craig Revel-Horwood described the routine as "totally and absolutely gorgeous".
The judges awarded Delta and Kai 7, 9, 8 and 10 points, giving them a total score of 34 for the night and the first score of 10 of the series!
The score of 34 placed Delta in second place in the leaderboard, just three points behind Tabby Stoecker and Mark Karmalita, who topped the Week Five leaderboard with 37 points.
With 12 couples competing in the fifth live show, Delta finished second overall, ahead of John Nellis and Katya Jones on 32 points.
Delta's epic comeback
It has not been an easy road back to the ballroom for Delta Goodrem. The Aussie superstar took to social media, posting a video of moments over the past two weeks for her followers, publicly confirming that her injury was a rib fracture and sharing the progress she has made behind the scenes.
Delta said:
"I filmed little moments over the past two weeks to remind myself that even on the frustrating days, there would be progress. I was gutted when the injury happened as I’ve been truly loving this experience so much. It’s hard to be patient when you want to be full force again but I’ve been listening, taking things carefully and learning to appreciate the small steps! Heading into show day feeling grateful to be able to take a few more tonight with all the incredible help from everyone around me xx 🤞🏻♥️
To all my warriors out there in your own battles i see you and am with you - we are fighters!
#Teamdeltakai will see you tonight 🫶🏻"
The public has its say once more
Every week, the public gets to have its say and help decide the show's results in the public vote.
Following the 12 performances, viewers were able to vote for their favourite couples, with the results of the public vote combined with the judges' scores from this week determining which two couples are at risk of being eliminated.
The two couples at the bottom of the combined results will face each other in the dance-off, with one celebrity ultimately being eliminated.
At the end of Saturday night's show, football pundit Shaun Wright-Phillips and his dance partner Alexis Warr were at the bottom of the leaderboard, scoring just 17 points for their jive to Faith by Stevie Wonder and Ariana Grande.
Emmerdale actor Lawrence Robb and his dance partner Jowita Przystał were second-last on 19 points for their jive to Rockafeller Skank by Fatboy Slim, while Love Island winner Cach Mercer and his dance partner Maddie Ingoldsby completed the bottom three, scoring just 24 points for their cha cha to Beggin' by Måneskin.
The Strictly results show will take place on Sunday evening in the UK, with the two lowest-ranked couples going head-to-head in the dance-off.
What's next for Delta?
Delta and Kai are due to return to the Strictly dancefloor next Saturday for Halloween Week, as the competition continues to heat up.
With the Australian singer placing top two in the Strictly leaderboard every week she has danced, Delta will be hoping to continue her impressive run of form in the competition.
