Everything we know about Eurovision’s Silia Kapsis in K-Pop: The Debut film

By Aussievision contributor Rebekah Smith
Eurovision star Silia Kapsis is taking her talents to the big screen, joining the cast of K-Pop: The Debut, a new Hollywood film from Paramount Pictures and HYBE America.
Set in the world of K-pop, the film follows a young Korean American woman who defies her family’s expectations to compete in a televised talent show to form the next girl group.
With filming wrapped in Seoul and a release date set for February 2027, Silia’s latest role marks another exciting chapter in her career, following her Eurovision journey representing Cyprus in 2024 and Australia as a spokesperson in 2025.
But what role will she play? That’s one detail still under wraps.
K-Pop: The Debut film
Silia is officially part of the cast of K-Pop: The Debut (also marketed as K-Pop Superstar: The Movie), a Paramount Pictures and HYBE America production, who are the entertainment powerhouse behind BTS and KATSEYE.

The premise of the film is a young Korean American woman defies her family’s wishes by competing in a televised competition to find the next K-pop girl group.
Think Pitch Perfect filtered through an actual idol-industry lens.
Billed as one of the first major Hollywood studio productions shot entirely in South Korea, filming began in Seoul in September 2025 and has since wrapped with the film now in post-production.

Which character is Silia playing?
Despite plenty of cast reveals and character breakdowns for her co-stars, Silia’s specific character name hasn’t been announced yet.
She’s confirmed as part of the ensemble alongside names like Sung Joon, Shana Kim, Aliyah Turner, and Ahin Lee - all of whom do have named roles - but Silia’s part remains under wraps for now.
Given how tight-lipped the production has otherwise been about plot specifics, it’s a safe bet more details will trickle out as the February 2027 release date approaches.
Who is Silia Kapsis?
Born in Sydney in December 2006, Silia is the daughter of a Cypriot singer father and a Greek lawyer-and-former-dancer mother so genetically speaking, she never really was going to have a “normal” job.
She’s been performing since age 4, wrote and released her debut single Who Am I? at just 12 years old, and later trained with the ImmaBeast Dance Company in LA, working alongside the late Stephen “tWitch” Boss on The Jennifer Hudson Show.
Her acting debut came in 2022 with the short film Pearly Gates, where she played lead role Zoe. From there she pivoted to Australian TV, becoming a regular host on Nickelodeon Australia’s Nick News, earning a Kids’ Choice Award nomination along the way.
The Eurovision chapter
The moment that put Silia on the international map was Eurovision 2024, where at just 17 she represented Cyprus with the song Liar, becoming the youngest performer in Cypriot Eurovision history.
She qualified for the Grand Final with a performance that left a huge impression, finishing in 15th place with a very respectable 78 points.
But her Eurovision story didn’t end there.
In 2025, Silia returned to the contest as Australia’s official spokesperson for the Eurovision Grand Final in Basel, delivering the Australian jury’s 12 points live on SBS. As she put it at the time:
“After performing on the Eurovision stage last year, it’s such a fun twist to now being the one saying, G’day Europe. Once a part of the Eurovision family, always a part!”
At the time that moment made her the second former Eurovision artist to serve as Australia’s spokesperson, following Voyager’s Danny Estrin the year before.

The bigger picture
For an artist who was writing songs in her bedroom at 12, represented Cyprus on the Eurovision stage at 17, came back a year later to speak for Australia, and now finds herself in a Paramount ensemble cast shot on location in Seoul, it feels less “lucky break” and more “natural next step.”
When she announced the film news on Instagram, she put it simply: “lil Silia would be proud.”
As are we, Silia. We can’t wait to continue watching your star rise!
K-Pop: The Debut film is expected to have a global cinema release on 26 February 2027.
