Over nearly two decades there have been only seven winners of the countdown with Loreen's Euphoria winning for 11 non-consecutive years.

Over the weekend @damiim and @deltagoodrem performed at Night at The Point festival in Hobart.

The three-night music festival ran from November 7–9. Rock legend Jon Stevens opened the weekend on Friday, followed by electronic hitmakers PNAU on Saturday, before it closed with the powerhouse duo of Delta and Dami on Sunday night.

For Delta Goodrem, the performance marks a special return to Tasmania, her first in two decades. A familiar face in the Eurovision world, she co-wrote Australia’s 2015 Junior Eurovision entry My Girls.

Budget papers from the Canadian government have revealed they are exploring participation in Eurovision.

The papers, tabled in Parliament by Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne read:

“The government will explore modernising CBC/Radio-Canada’s mandate to strengthen independence, and is working with CBC/Radio Canada to explore participation in Eurovision.”

Eurovision Canada?

In 2022, the EBU announced that the Eurovision Canada contest would be coming in 2023.

The competition was to be similar to the now-defunct American Song Contest.

Executive Supervisior of the Eurovision Song Contest, Martin Österdahl gave reasons for the decision at the time.

“It is time for Canada to join the party and become a player in this worldwide spectacle,” he said.

“The love of music is universal and the celebration of music’s different genres and styles transcends boundaries, uniting people in a way that no other art form can.

“We are excited to have found the best partners to offer another version of this joyful phenomenon to new fans and to share this remarkable competition with the Canadian people.”

The competition has yet to take place.

The news comes after Bulgaria, Moldova and Romania annoucned their return to Eurovision while many other nations like Ireland, Netherlands, Slovenia and Spain threaten to withdraw over Israel.

Next year’s Contest is also the 70th edition in Vienna. The 2015 Contest was the 60th year of Eurovision, which was used as a reason to invite Australia as a special guest.

Australia had been broadcasting the Eurovision Song Contest every year since 1983 sending commentary teams since 2009.

Canada’s CBC channel is an Associate Member of the EBU but currently do not broadcast the contest.

Among the artists are Getter Jaani who represented Estonia at the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest with her entry Rockefeller Street coming in 24th place in Düsseldorf.

Despite Rockefeller Street finishing in second-last place in the final at Eurovision, the song has gone on to become a popular internet meme.

Stig Rästa, who represented Estonia at Eurovision in 2015 as part of the duet with Elina Born, Goodbye to Yesterday, is teaming up with fellow former Eurovision artist Victor Crone, who flew the flag for Estonia in 2019 with his entry Storm.

And so for the third consecutive January, all eyes will no doubt be on the Grand Duchy to see what broadcaster RTL has in store for the 2026 edition of the Contest; a show which has so far proven to not just be a superb showcase of the Luxembourg music scene, but also in parts a celebration of the history of the Eurovision Song Contest, too.

On Thursday 30 October, RTL announced that a total of eight finalists have been selected to compete in the upcoming edition of Luxembourg at Song Contest after a highly competitive audition process was hosted by the broadcaster earlier in the month.

An international jury, made up of professionals and creatives from the Eurovision Song Contest-adjacent world, was on the hunt for the song that could represent Luxembourg at Vienna 2026. Out of the 83 compositions submitted, the jury selected eight that will now get to take the stage at the Rockhal on Saturday 24 January 2026

The eight songs competing will be released to streaming platforms in December. But before then, you can get acquainted with the eight acts that are going to be performing them!

Ahead of the third edition of Luxembourg Song Contest happening on 24 January, broadcaster RTL has announced the eight artists that will be taking part.

Only two editions have taken place so far, but that's not stopped Luxembourg Song Contest from becoming appointment viewing for Eurovision fans everywhere; all eager for an evening of sparkling entertainment on a cold and dark Saturday in winter!

Australian Eurovision commentator and drag icon @courtneyact has released a joyful new children’s book titled Confetti and the Rainbow Garden — a celebration of curiosity, creativity, family, identity, and the wonders of nature.

Illustrated by award-winning artist Dylan Finney, the picture book is designed to inspire acceptance and independence in children aged 3 and up.

At the heart of the story is Confetti, a young anthropomorphic wattle spending the holidays with five cousins at their Nan’s house. There, they discover a magical backyard overflowing with native Australian plants and flowers. As Confetti explores, they wonder who they’ll grow up to be — a wistful waratah, a lorikeet-loving grevillea, or maybe a playful fern?

The release arrives at a time when Drag Queen Story Time events have faced criticism, despite their role in offering young audiences empowering representation of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Courtney has been at the centre of this conversation before — her appearance on ABC’s beloved children’s program Play School back in 2022 drew backlash from a conservative senator, who described the segment as “child grooming.”

In a passionate response published in The Sydney Morning Herald, Courtney wrote:

“Showing straight kids queer content won’t turn them queer. Your queer kids will be queer regardless of whether you show them examples or talk to them about it. It just depends on how much shame you want them to carry into their lives.”

Alongside her advocacy, Courtney has become a beloved figure within Australia’s Eurovision world. She joined SBS’s broadcasting team in 2024 as backstage correspondent, bringing fans exclusive behind-the-scenes access with charisma and heart. In 2025, she stepped up to co-host the live Eurovision broadcasts from Basel, Switzerland, alongside Tony Armstrong, a duo quickly embraced by audiences.

And she isn’t done yet — as recently as September, Courtney expressed her desire to represent Australia on the Eurovision stage in the near future.
