The date for the Australian Eurovision artist and song announcement has been revealed as Monday 2 March (Australian time).

We've waited long enough and we now have a date!

Australia's Eurovision artist will be announced at 5:00am Monday 2 March, Australian Eastern Daylight Saving Time.

This will be Sunday 1 March at 19:00 CET for our European friends.

This approach isn't out of the blue, it is consistent with the approach in recent years of an early morning announcement.

Although the timing is early for Aussies, it's prime time for the European audience (and voters).

Additionally, it plays into the predictable news cycle of Australian media, particularly TV.

Our artists have regularly appeared on our biggest morning TV shows over the years, with that coverage continuing into our prime time news coverage.

We will have to wait until Monday, Australian time, to see who the artist is and what the song is, despite many rumours.
