Does Delta Goodrem's Eurovision performance of Eclipse have a connection with Beyoncé?

Delta wowed viewers of the Eurovision Song Contest this morning with her soaring performance of Eclipse delivering drama, glamour and a jaw-dropping finale.

A part of the finale takes Delta's up to the heights of the arena with the help of a hydraulic lift cleverly hidden under the golden piano.

In a press conference following the second Eurovision semi-final, where Australia qualified for the Grand Final for the first time in three years, Delta was asked about being hoisted into the air during her performance of Eclipse:

“I've stood on a lot of pianos. I've played a lot of pianos, and I've jumped on a lot of pianos. But I was so excited because I've never been lifted out of a piano. I've been holding that in me for a while. I can't wait to see how it feels. When you're not singing, it's a lot higher than you realise. When you're singing, I don't notice how high you're going.”

Another reporter followed up by asked Delta whether the hydraulic lift came from Beyoncé. Delta responded:

"Look where ever it came from, it actually did get flown in. But I can't remember where it is from."

According to Eurovision journalist GJ Kooijman (@gjkooijman) the answer is yes - it is Beyoncé's lift!

In a post shared on social media platform, X, Kooijman revealed that Delta's performance uses Beyonce's actual lift that she used for her iconic Dubai show in 2023.

A member of Delta Goodrem’s staging team, Dan Shipton from Black Skull Creative, reportedly confirmed it to Kooijman while talking to the official Eurovision podcast.

Beyoncé’s 2023 Dubai performance was one of the superstar’s most lavish live productions in recent years, reportedly created exclusively for the luxury Atlantis The Royal resort opening.

The performance of Drunk In Love quickly went viral online thanks to its extravagant staging, including the dramatic elevated lift sequence.

This news also caught the attention of Aussie pop star and radio host Ricki Lee Coulter from the Ricki-Lee & Tim show on Nova, which is a huge Beyoncé fan.

The Australian Idol host said:

"If anyone saw Beyoncé's performance in Dubai to open the Atlantic Hotel where she goes up on the platform when she's singing Drunk in Love that has been loaned by Delta for her Eurovision performance."

For Delta, the lift became the emotional climax of Eclipse, elevating her above the Eurovision stage as the power pop ballad reached its final crescendo.
