Australia’s Eurovision 2026 entrant Delta Goodrem has qualified for the Grand Final with her spectacular performance of Eclipse.
It marks Australia’s first appearance in the Eurovision Grand Final since 2023, when Perth prog-metal band Voyager qualified in Liverpool with their song Promise.
An elated Delta spoke to the media at a press conference shortly after the second semi-final wrapped up.
She was asked by a Channel Nine reporter how she would describe the moment Australia qualified for the Grand Final.
“Oh my goodness, my heart was racing when they started calling me out! Whooooo! I am so grateful to be going to the Grand Final. Just really excited to get it going tomorrow.”
Delta was also asked about being hoisted into the air during her performance of Eclipse.
“I've stood on a lot of pianos. I've played a lot of pianos, and I've jumped on a lot of pianos. But I was so excited because I've never been lifted out of a piano. I've been holding that in me for a while. I can't wait to see how it feels. When you're not singing, it's a lot higher than you realise. When you're singing, I don't notice how high you're going.”
The reporter then asked Delta what she felt when Australia was announced as one of the qualifiers.
“We were just jumping up. [I'm] just grateful. I'm excited. I can't describe it yet, I am still processing it. But it was awesome.”
When asked whether she had seen the odds, Delta responded:
“That's a nice feeling. You know we've still got a mission to go. I'm so glad that tonight felt great in the room. I haven't seen anything yet. I enjoyed every second. The energy in the room felt incredible. Everyone was just enjoying being part of the night. I felt the support in the room. I saw a lot of Australian flags.”

The reporter also mentioned the number of Australians cheering Delta on and asked what she would like to say to them.
“I am so grateful. I am so thankful for everyone getting up early in Australia. Thank you for getting up. All of my family and friends are up early. But we're going to have to do it again. Get up early again! Get up! I will know if you've gotten up early.”
Delta was also asked about her elaborate stage outfit.
“It's not for sitting in that area,” she joked, referring to the green room where contestants wait after performing. “It's not built for that.”
She then praised the Australian designers behind the look.
“It was made by Nicky from Velani from Australia, a Greek Australian. Also, House of Emmanuele did this amazing eclipse piece. It was a team effort. Swarovski, an ode to Vienna — Victoria Swarovski is hosting tonight — so we had talked about that.”
Finally, Delta shared a message for Australians preparing to watch the live Grand Final on Sunday morning.
“I hope that you've got the breakfast ready, mimosas to start the morning, the TV loud, and some popcorn at 5am. Maybe it's more pastry vibes for 5am. I am grateful that people would make the effort to get up early, and if not, to catch it later. If you have any friends overseas, please let them know that they can vote.”
“Thank you for being with me. Thanks for supporting me. I am definitely feeling it from over here. I am pumped to continue to do my very best.”
With Eclipse now through to the Grand Final, Delta Goodrem has delivered Australia one of its strongest chances in a decade to possible take out the contest.
Australia heads into the Grand Final with genuine hopes of a top result as Delta prepares to take to the Eurovision stage once again.
