ABBA's 'Voyage' makes chart history on the US Billboard 200




As predicted last week, ABBA's new studio album 'Voyage' has scored the band their highest charting album ever!


'Voyage' has landed at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, making chart history for the band giving them their first top 10 in the United States. It is also ABBA's 14th charting album on the Billboard 200.


The bands previous most successful album was back in 1978 with 'ABBA: The Album' which peaked at No. 14. The studio album features the hit 'Take A Chance On Me' which reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

It has been 40 years since ABBA split, with the Swedish Eurovision 1974 winning artists, returning with 'Voyage', their ninth studio album release on November 5.



'Voyage' scored ABBA 82,000 equivalent album units over the week November 5-11. Out of that number 78,000 where actual album sales. When broken down 60,500 were physical sales (42,000 on compact disc, 17,500 on vinyl LP and 1,000 on cassette) and 17,500 were digital album sales.


The album is the top-selling album of the week and the largest from a group in 2021.


ABBA also rocketed to No.1 on the Billboard Top Album Sales and Vinyl Albums charts.


End of last week 'Voyage' reached No. 1 in Australia making it their first No. 1 album in 29 years, and fifth No. 1 album overall.


In the United Kingdom ABBA's new album also reached No. 1 with sales of 204,000, 180,000 being physical sales. It had the biggest opening week for an album in the UK since Ed Sheeran's '÷' back in 2017 and became the fastest-selling album of 2021 as well as the fastest-selling vinyl of the 21st century, with 29,900 vinyl copies sold. It is ABBA's first number-one album since 'ABBA Gold', which topped the chart in 1992, 1999 and 2008.



'Voyage' has so far charted at No.1 in album charts in over a dozen countries around the world including Belgium, The Netherlands, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland.
