In September 2025, SBS revealed that Australia would be returning to the Eurovision Song Contest for 2026.

The 2026 Contest will mark the 11th anniversary since Australia first entered the competition after our first-ever appearance in 2015, when we were invited to compete as a “one-off event”.

Fans are now (im)patiently wait to see who will represent Australia and when we'll hear our 2026 Eurovision entry.

In June 2025, we asked fans who they would want to represent Australia in Vienna, check out the list here. Or could SBS choose another artist/s from the Australia Decides alumni?

The rumour mill has been relatively quiet but there has been one name that has been thrown into the ring, and that is Delta Goodrem. Back in June 2025, Delta teased us by saying she would love to represent Australia at Eurovision. However, in November 2025, Aussievision looked at the diaries of many of the artists that could represent Australia, and Delta is potentially ruled out due to other commitments around the same time.

Quite frankly, no one yet knows who will be representing Australia, but we can try to predict when we could expect to get an artist announcement and song reveal.

To do this, we can look back on the last decade of Australia’s Eurovision internal announcements.

Let’s first review when the artist reveal has occurred for Australia.

When artists have been revealed

Previously, when an internal artist has been selected, the announcement of who will be Australia's Eurovision artist have taken place on these dates:

  • 5 March 2015: Guy Sebastian announced for Eurovision 2015

  • 3 March 2016: Dami Im announced for Eurovision 2016

  • 7 March 2017: Isaiah announced for Eurovision 2017

  • 11 December 2017: Jessica Mauboy announced for Eurovision 2018

  • 2 April 2020: Montaigne internally selected for Eurovision 2021

  • 21 February 2023: Voyager announced for Eurovision 2023

  • 6 March 2024: Electric Fields announced for Eurovision 2024

  • 26 February 2025: Go-Jo announced for Eurovision 2025.

A late February/early March announcement?

When we look at the dates when Australia has internally selected an artist, four times out of seven, Australia’s Eurovision artist/s was announced in the first week of March. However more recently, in 2023 and 2025, the artist announcement has come in late February.

So based on past announcements, we could still have around eight weeks to wait until we hear any news from SBS!

What about the song?

With an artist announcement possibly eight weeks away, when can we expect the song to be released?

Previously, the release dates of Australia's Eurovision songs have been:

  • 7 April 2015: Tonight Again released

  • 11 March 2016: Sound of Silence released

  • 7 March 2017: Don’t Come Easy released

  • 8 March 2018: We Got Love released

  • 4 March 2021: Technicolour released

  • 21 February 2023: Promise released

  • 6 March 2024: One Mikali (One Blood) released

  • 26 February 2025: Milkshake Man released.

So, looking at just the times when Australia internally selected their artist, five out of seven times Australia’s Eurovision song has been released in March.

The earliest song release was in 2023 when Voyager revealed they will be competing in Liverpool with the song Promise in February.

If we get our artist announcement in eight weeks, will we get our song at the same time? On four occasions we have had the artist announcement and song happen on the same day: in 2017, 2023, 2024 and 2025.

By looking at these dates, it tells us that Australian Eurovision fans may still have to wait a little longer.

Any sort of news could be around eight weeks away.... or they could change it up and we could get news tomorrow!

Nevertheless, we are excited for that day to arrive!
