Delta Goodrem has teased she's thinking about representing Australia at Eurovision. Here's the latest on what she's hinted.
Australia's highest selling artist of the 21st Century and household name, Delta Goodrem, has revealed she's open to taking on Eurovision.
"Of course I would do Eurovision. I love it!" she said when speaking with The Sun while on tour in the UK.
Delta says she was thrilled when Australia was allowed into the contest in 2015, adding: “I’m obsessed. I flew into London and watched some of the semi-finals. You discover some amazing talents.”
Clearly a big fan of the competition, she keeps tabs on Eurovision and the artists it celebrates.
“Remember Monday are so cute and gorgeous! I love their harmonies, they are so talented," she said of the UK's 2025 entry.
It seems Delta has given thought to what a run of her own may look like and a vision for a performance is starting to form.
,
“I’ve got my thoughts on what I would do if I was competing, for sure.”
Soon after that interview, Delta further revealed to The Sun a growing industry buzz following her public statements on her interest in the competition.
"I have had a lot of people reach out to me after the story to ask me if we are doing this. Not just fans wanting to know but my industry friends have asked me if I’m serious and if they should be looking for a song or ideas."
Delta's history with Eurovision
Delta has long been eyed for Australian Eurovision representation, particularly in 2016 when the rumour mill had her a hot favourite alongside eventual contestant and Eurovision icon Dami Im.
She also co-wrote Australia's Junior Eurovision debut entry My Girls, which finished 8th in 2015.
As recently as 2023, Delta has said she's been concentrating on her own music path and hadn't envisioned a Eurovision tilt.
"I’ve always loved watching Eurovision, it’s such a great moment in time. I’ve always been just running in my own race and whatever I’m meant to sort of cross paths with I’ll move towards that if a time feels right, but not currently," she said.
"But I always loved cheering on everybody because the music is always so great. I mean look what Måneskin did, it’s amazing."
But now her comments continue to warm to the idea of taking to the biggest stage in Europe.
“There’s no harm in looking for a song. So you never know," she said.
"You never know where the music will take you in life. Where there is a stage and there’s great music you will see me grab my dancing shoes or grab my microphone. I loved watching all the talent and seeing everyone be creative.”
About Delta
Dominating Australia's music scene with her 2003 debut album Innocent Eyes, she's so big down under she's known affectionately as simply "Delta."
Innocent Eyes spent 29 weeks at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart and achieved 15× Platinum status in Australia.
It produced five consecutive number-one singles, including Innocent Eyes and Not Me, Not I, making Delta the first artist to achieve such a feat from a debut album in Australia.
Worldwide, Innocent Eyes sold over four million copies, establishing her as a pop princess.
She's since had four more Australian Number 1 albums: Mistaken Identity, Delta, Wings of the Wild, and Bridge Over Troubled Dreams.
Delta has also had nine, that's right NINE, Australian number one singles.
Her stint on long-running Australia soap Neighbours as Nina Tucker and her music career also mean she has a high profile in The UK, Ireland, parts of Europe and Japan.
In the United Kingdom, Innocent Eyes peaked at number two on the UK Albums Chart, and singles like Born to Try and Lost Without You reached the top five on the UK Singles Chart.
Her second album, Mistaken Identity, also charted internationally, with the single Almost Here, a duet with then partner Brian McFadden, reaching number three in the UK and number one in Ireland.
Her 2007 album, Delta, even reached 116 on the US Billboard 200.
