This OGAE Australia Eurovision fan just got elected to South Australia's parliament

South Australia held its state election an OGAE Australia Eurovision fan being elected to parliament.


South Australians went to the polls yesterday to elect their state government.


It was a comfortable win for the Labor party with Peter Malinauskas winning a second term as Premier.


Among the many Members of Parliament elected was David Wilkins for the seat of Lee.



And why is this significant to a Eurovision site like Aussievision?


Well, David Wilkins is a Eurovision fan, and not just casually; he is a long-term active member of OGAE Australia.


OGAE Australia is the official fan club here and part of a global network that gives fans access to tickets and puts on annual events and parties with Eurovision artists.


David is so involved that he took part in the So You Think You Can Eurovision contest held by OGAE Australia in 2019.


The lip sync competition saw him perform KEiiNO's Spirit in the Sky with fellow members Simone and Survivor Australia's George Mladenov,



Although they didn't win, (with this author taking out the crown), they put on a very entertaining performance with David starring as KEiiNO's Fred Buljo

About David Wilkins


David's bio on the ABC election site states:


"Wilkins grew up in foster care and says that has shown him the power of government to change lives. He has spent most of his career as a political advisor but has also worked in the health and disability sectors.


"More recently, Wilkins has been the chief of staff of health minister Chris Picton. He holds a law degree from the University of Adelaide. Wilkins has served on the City of Port Adelaide Enfield Council since 2018 and is also a Justice of the Peace."


With his own website adding that he is also an authorised marriage celebrant and a proud local resident of the western suburbs and that "Most weekends, you’ll either find him at parkrun or tracking down the best coffee in the west."
