The Eurovision acts who have performed at the NRL Grand Final

This weekend sees the National Rugby League (NRL) Grand Final, one of the biggest sporting events in Australia with over 3 million tuning in to the 2021 edition.

As much as the day is about footy, it is also about the entertainment.

Over the years there have been some pretty big international acts like Tina Turner, Billy Idol, Macklemore, OneRepublic and Ricky Martin.

With music involved it's inevitable that Australian Eurovision acts have appeared over the years, let's take a look.

Jessica Mauboy

2010, 2013, 2015 and 2016

Eurovision 2018 star Jessica Mauboy is a big rugby league fan and has appeared at the NRL Grand Final several times.

In 2010 she performed her hit 'Get em' Girls' as well as the national anthem.

She returned in 2013 where she featured heavily as the official ambassador of the NRL season.

Firstly, she sang her two hits 'Something's Got a Hold of Me' and 'Pop a Bottle (Fill Me Up), before rising from inside the stage to join Ricky Martin to perform 'Livin' la Vida Loca'.

If that wasn't enough she returned to perform the national anthem in her third costume change of the night.

In 2015 she returned to the Grand Final to perform the national anthem and watch her team, the North Queensland Cowboys, win a one point thriller.

She featured again in 2016 to sing 'Wake Me Up' as a tribute to retiring players and then joined Keith Urban in a performance of his song 'The Fighter'.

Jessica truly is an NRL Grand Final legend!

Dami Im

2016

Fresh off her runner-up performance at Eurovision 2016, Dami Im sang the national anthem as the 2016 Grand Final. She would perform it at the AFL Grand Final a year later.

Vanessa Amorosi

1999 and 2007

At the top of her pop game in 1999, Vanessa performed at the NRL Grand Final in what would be a warm up for the Olympics in the same stadium a year later.

She performed alongside Hugh Jackman and Human Nature, where she sang her hit song 'Have a Look'.

She returned in 2007 to perform the national anthem.

Mark Vincent

2009

Fresh off his Australia's Got Talent victory in 2009, Mark Vincent (the Australia Decides singer from 2019) performed the national anthem.

Kate Miller-Heidke

2021

Eurovision 2019 star Kate Miller-Heidke performed the national anthem at the NRL Grand Final. The game was historic as it was played in Brisbane for the first time and as Kate grew up in the city it was a perfect choice for her to perform.

Kate also joined the half-time entertainment with performances also by Ian Moss, The Stafford Brothers, Timmy Trumpet, William Barton and a forty-piece Queensland orchestra.

Sheldon Riley

2022

Eurovision 2022 star Sheldon Riley will be performing at this year's NRL Grand Final at the Accor Stadium (Stadium Australia). In a statement with the Sydney Morning Herald Sheldon said:

"Performing at the NRL grand final is such an insane moment for me in my career. To be honest, it’s a stage I never thought I’d have the opportunity to perform on. I’m so honoured and excited to be bringing my voice to this iconic event."

Sheldon will be joined by Australian line up for the Grand Final entertainment which includes the legendary Jimmy Barnes, hip-hop act Bliss N Eso featuring Joy, Josh Teskey, Diesel, Mahalia Barnes and more!

In a TV interview with the Today Extra show Sheldon said to expect something huge for his performance! Prepare to be wowed!
