Sissal is aiming to make Eurovision history this weekend as she competes in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026.
The Danish singer, who represented Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel with Hallucination, is bidding for an immediate return with her new entry Infinity.
If she wins on 14 February, she would become the first lead performer in more than a decade to represent their country at Eurovision in consecutive years.
She would also be the first from Denmark since Hot Eyes in 1985.
Back-to-back appearances by the same lead artist have become increasingly rare in the modern Eurovision era.
The last to achieve the feat was Valentina Monetta for San Marino in 2014, who actually competed three years in a row.
Is a return this year too early?
Sissal’s rapid return has raised eyebrows among fans, with many questioning whether it is too soon after her 2025 appearance.
She has openly acknowledged that hesitation.
In a recent interview with Wiwibloggs, she said:
“It is early. That is for sure. Is it too early? We don't know.”
She admitted she had doubts before committing to the comeback.
“I was really hesitant if I was going to do this… because I exactly had those thoughts like oh is this too early?”
Ultimately, her connection to the Contest pushed her forward.
“I enjoy this community so much that if I could do this every year, I would.”
Can Sissal win?
Sissal qualified Denmark to the Grand Final in 2025, ending the country’s long non-qualification streak and finishing 23rd overall in Basel.
Now, she enters Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026 as the bookmakers’ clear favourite, holding around a 49% chance of victory, well ahead of her nearest competitor.
The final of Denmark's national final DMGP is on Saturday 14 February at 20:00 CET (Sunday 15 February at 6:00 AEDT)
