Multiple Eurovision artists nominated for 2023 MTV EMAs



Eight Eurovision artists have been announced as nominees for this years MTV EMAs (European Music Awards), with the ceremony set to take place at the famed French exhibition hall Paris Nord Villepinte. It will be the the show's first return to Paris since 1995.


Leading the pack with four nominations are Eurovision 2021 winners Måneskin.


The Italian rock band have been nominated in three of the main categories - "Best Rock", "Best Live", "Best Group" and have a nomination in the regional category for "Best Italian Act".


Just last month in September Måneskin won an MTV Video Music Award for in the "Best Rock" category for their 2022 release 'The Loneliest'.

Måneskin are no strangers to the MTV awards. After their Eurovision win for Italy in 2021 the group were nominated at the MTV Europe Music Awards in the "Best Group", "Best Rock" and "Best Italian Act" categories winning the award for "Best Rock".


Last year they were nominated in the MTV Europe Music Awards for "Best Rock" and "Best Italian Act" and won the award for best "Best New Artist Video – International" for 'Supermodel' at the 'MTV Video Music Awards Japan'.

The UK's Eurovision 2022 runner-up Sam Ryder has been nominated for a MTV EMA for the first time in the "Best Push" category for January 2023. Sam was a presenter at last years awards ceremony where he presented the award for "Best Collaboration" with Lauren Spencer-Smith.


At this year's MTV VMAs Sam was nominated in the "Push Performance of the Year" category for his heartfelt rendition of 'All the Way Over' taken off his UK No. 1 album 'There's Nothing but Space, Man!'. Sam missed out on the win to the song 'Sugar Rush Ride' by Tomorrow X Together.


Other Eurovision artists were nominated in the regional categories:

  • Alessandra, Käärijä and Loreen for Best Nordic Act

  • Gjon's Tears for Best Swiss Act

  • S10 for Best Dutch Act

  • Noa Kirel for Best Israeli Act

This year's Eurovision winner Loreen, sees her third ever MTV EMA nomination, she previously won a MTV EMA in 2012 for "Best Swedish Act" in 2012 after her first Eurovision win.


For Eurovision 2021 artist Gjon's Tears this is his second nomination, he previously won "Best Swiss Act" in 2021.

Eurovision 2023 star Noa Kirel sees herself nominated for the seventh time in the "Best Israeli Act" category and has won the award a mammoth five times, in 2017, 2018, 2020, 2021 and 2022.

The 2023 MTV EMAs are set to take place on Sunday, November 5, and will broadcast live on MTV in more than 150 countries across the globe, as well as on Pluto TV and on-demand on Paramount+.
