Eurovision star Jessica Mauboy has released a heartfelt new single, While I Got Time, featured in the promotional campaign for a major Home and Away farewell.

Co-written with acclaimed Australian singer-songwriter PJ Harding, the track marks another powerful collaboration between the two artists. Harding previously co-wrote Mauboy’s hit Fallin’ for the TV series The Secret Daughter in 2017, a song that climbed to No. 11 on the ARIA singles chart.

Harding is also known for his work with a range of prominent artists, including Australian talent Ruel, American singer Noah Cyrus (sister of Miley Cyrus), Eurovision winner Duncan Laurence, and Eurovision star and Australian Idol alum Guy Sebastian.

While I Got Time accompanies the emotional farewell of actor Lynne McGranger, who has portrayed the beloved character Irene Roberts on Home and Away for an incredible 33 years. The song sets the tone for what is expected to be a poignant and memorable send-off.

The release also marks a major milestone in Mauboy’s career: it's her first independent single, and the debut release on her own label, Jamally. The move follows her recent departure from Warner Music Australia, where she spent five years, and her long-standing relationship with Sony Music prior to that.

In a statement online Mauboy opened up about the inspiration behind the track and this new chapter in her career:

“This song really came from a place of reflection and release. PJ Harding and I wrote it during a moment where I was thinking about what I want to leave behind, and what I want to lean into while I’m still here. It’s about letting go of the past with grace, honouring where I’ve been, and stepping into the unknown with open arms. ❤️❤️

This is the first release on my own label, Jamally, which feels like a new chapter for me – as a creator, a storyteller, and a businesswoman following the launch of my beauty brand, Desert Rose.”

Mauboy will perform While I Got Time live for the first time at the 2025 National Indigenous Music Awards (NIMAs) on Saturday, August 9, where she will also be inducted into the NIMA Hall of Fame.
