Eurovision winner Duncan Laurence covers Crowded House's 'Don't Dream It's Over'

Eurovision 2019 winner Duncan Laurence has covered the Crowded House classic 'Don't Dream It's Over'.

The cover was part of Duncan's appearance on the popular Dutch show 'Beste Zangers' (translated to Best Singers).

In each episode of the series an artist is celebrated by other performers. However in this special one-off show, each artist performed a song about "The Power of Music" and how it can help with mental health.

The reason he chose the song was revealed by Beste Zangers:

Duncan's life changed in one fell swoop after winning the Eurovision Song Contest. Shortly afterwards came the corona lockdown. This was a difficult period for him because for him it was a whole accumulation of things. Just before a performance at the alternative Eurovision Song Contest during this lockdown, it all became too much for him. A song that has helped him through this difficult time is 'Don't dream it's over'.

The song by Australian-New Zealand band (let's not open that debate) was released in 1986 and became a global hit.

The song went no.2 in the United States and, more importantly, no.5 in the Netherlands.

'Beste Zangers' also includes Eurovision 2016 artist Douwe Bob. Earlier in the series Duncan made Douwe cry when covering his song 'I Do'.

Douwe Bob covered Duncan's song 'Electric Life' the week the Eurovision 2019 winner was honoured.

The covers of each artist are also available on their Spotify channels.
