Australian Eurovision royalty Dami Im has unveiled her latest EP, Stormy Weather, a collection that sees the singer delve into jazz-inspired sounds.
Released as she embarks on her sold-out national Stormy Weather tour, the six-track EP showcases Dami's love of jazz, classical music and piano-driven storytelling.
Recorded alongside a live jazz trio and string arrangements, Stormy Weather offers a more intimate and personal sound, with each track exploring themes of self-reflection, growth and identity.
Songs such as Sight of You, Proud of Me and Blue Chalk (Fly) delve into self-doubt and personal acceptance, while the title track sees Dami put her own spin on the classic jazz standard Stormy Weather.
Speaking to Aussievision back in May about the release, Dami described her love for jazz.
"I love the nostalgia that jazz brings. I love jazz chords and arrangements. My manager is like "No one likes jazz" but I'm like this is the jazz that I think is enjoyable. I'm probably a basic b*tch. I like nice fun music, not like crazy saxophone solos that go on for 20 minutes. This is my gift to you, jazz that you will not hate."
She added that the project represents a return to her jazz musical roots after years of exploring different styles and performing on some of the world's biggest stages.
One of the EP's standout tracks is Blue Chalk (Fly), which reflects on childhood dreams and the challenges that can emerge with adulthood. Inspired by memories of drawing with blue chalk and imagining endless possibilities, the song explores how those ambitions can become clouded by doubt and expectation over time.
The closing track, Music Keeps The Score, brings the EP's themes together by examining how music preserves emotions and memories that might otherwise be lost.
Dami is well known for finishing as the runner-up for Australia at the Eurovision 2016 with her epic performance of Sound of Silence, delivering Australia's best ever result.
With her sold-out tour beginning in Sydney, audiences will have the opportunity to experience Stormy Weather in intimate jazz venues, allowing the songs to be heard in the setting they were created for.
