This year's Eurovision winner from Austria, JJ, has officially released his follow-up single to the Eurovision winning Wasted Love, and it's called Back to Forgetting.

The new track has a strong Aussie connection. It was co-written by none other than Eurovision – Australia Decides "Prince Charming" Jude York.

Back to Forgetting was penned by Jude alongside JJ and acclaimed Swedish songwriter and producer Kristofer Strandberg. Jude also features in the backing vocals. The result is a dramatic and emotionally charged piece that continues JJ’s signature operatic-pop style, first introduced to millions on the Eurovision stage.

Jude York first caught the public’s attention in 2022 when he competed in Eurovision – Australia Decides with his powerful ballad I Won’t Need to Dream, ultimately placing 8th. But that was just the beginning of his rise. Since then, the talented singer-songwriter has cultivated a dedicated fanbase, particularly on TikTok, thanks to his raw, heartfelt musical content.

No stranger to collaborating with Eurovision royalty, Jude teamed up with 2016 Eurovision runner-up Dami Im in 2023 for a moving duet of her song In Between. He also co-wrote and produced Isaiah Firebrace’s last two singles, All I Can Give and BALANCE. Isaiah, of course, represented Australia at Eurovision in 2017 with Don’t Come Easy.

When we interviewed Jude back in June, he hinted at songwriting trips to Europe, a likely birthplace for this latest collaboration. Back to Forgetting is unmistakably "Jude York-coded," with emotional depth and melodic complexity that fans have come to expect from his work.

Musically, Back to Forgetting is a natural continuation of JJ’s Eurovision sound. The track blends classical and modern elements with operatic flair, building intensity through a powerful chorus that leaves a lasting impression. It’s theatrical, emotive, and undeniably catchy, a formula JJ is quickly becoming known for.

In an interview with Attitude magazine, ahead of the single release, JJ revealed that a follow-up single was already in the works:

“We already have a song prepared. After the promo tour, we’ll have songwriting sessions and experiment more. We’ll definitely keep the operatic sound – that’s what people know me for, and I don’t want to forget my musical beginnings. We’ll see what works well with classical music, but we have a great team, and I’m very happy to be working with them again.”

With Back to Forgetting, JJ proves he’s no one-hit wonder, and that his post-Eurovision journey is just getting started.
