The wait is over, Delta Goodrem has been revealed as Australia’s Eurovision 2026 artist in Vienna.
SBS and production partner Beyond Productions have announced that the multi-platinum singer will take to the stage at the Wiener Stadthalle in May with her powerful new single Eclipse.
One of Australia’s most accomplished and globally recognised performers, Delta is among the biggest names ever selected to compete for the country at the Contest.
She has long been rumoured as a potential Eurovision contender, with fans putting her on top of our survey for the second straight year as the artist readers most want to see represent Australia
.
Delta's song for Australia at Eurovision 2026: Eclipse
Released today, Eclipse is described as capturing “the rare, breath-stealing moment when shadow and light fall into perfect harmony — a metaphor for clarity, alignment and stepping fully into your purpose.
“Blending delicate piano motifs with sweeping, cinematic production, the track builds from intimate vulnerability to a soaring, anthemic crescendo designed for arena impact.”
The song was written by Delta Goodrem, Ferras Alqaisi, Jonas Myrin and Michael Fatkin, who also produced the single.
Delta’s Eurovision delight
Delta has often been rumoured to be our representative and even hinted at it in June 2025, telling The Sun, “Of course I would do Eurovision. I love it!”
She shared her delight on being selected.
“I’m so honoured to represent Australia on one of the biggest and most iconic music stages in the world at Eurovision, she said.
“As a singer-songwriter, music has been my lifelong passion. I’ve always loved the creativity, individuality, and joy Eurovision brings, connecting and uniting people across the globe through music; the universal language. I can’t wait to arrive in Vienna and make Australia proud.”
The music video for Eclipse, directed by Melbourne-born, London-based filmmaker Liam Pethick and produced by Brian Purnell, was filmed across sand dunes in Newcastle, NSW.
An iconic career
Signing her first record deal at just 15, Delta exploded onto the global stage with her debut album Innocent Eyes in 2003.
The record became a 23-times Platinum phenomenon and remains the second-highest-selling album in Australian history.
Across her career, Delta has sold more than nine million albums worldwide, achieved five number one albums and nine number one singles, and earned 12 ARIA Awards.
She has collaborated and toured with global icons including Celine Dion, Olivia Newton-John, Andrea Bocelli, Tony Bennett, Shania Twain, Backstreet Boys and Ricky Martin.
More recently, she released the 2024 single Hearts on the Run, while her 2021 album Bridge Over Troubled Dreams debuted at number one in Australia.
SBS: ‘The moment has arrived’
SBS Head of Entertainment Emily Griggs said: “After years of speculation, the moment has arrived. Everything has aligned for Delta to represent Australia at Eurovision, and there’s no better time than 2026 in the song contest’s 70th year. Europe, get ready. Australia is lighting up the stage.”
Australia’s Creative Director for Vienna, Paul Clarke said: “Delta Goodrem is a once in a generation artist. Her elegant songwriting and unmatched vocal ability make her the perfect choice to represent Australia and eclipse the competition at the 70th anniversary of Eurovision in Vienna.”
The 70th Eurovision Song Contest will be broadcast from Vienna, Austria, in May 2026.
Australia at Eurovision
Australia has competed at Eurovision since 2015, achieving its best result in 2016 with Dami Im finishing runner-up with Sound of Silence.
In the 2020s, Australia has qualified just twice in five attempts and has missed out on the Grand Final two years running.
With Delta’s experience, vocal power and stage presence, expectations will be high as Australia looks to return to Saturday night in Europe.
