Courtney Act to guest star in ‘Fantabulosa’ tour headlined by Boy George

‘Australia Decides 2019’ star Courtney Act has recently announced on social media that she will be guest-starring in the ‘Fantabulosa’ tour, created by Boy George and TEG Live.

‘Fantabulosa’ is a recognition of the LGBTQIA+ community’s powerful impact and contribution to modern popular culture, featuring new twists on beloved classic songs such as ‘The Man I Love’ by Billie Holiday, ‘Heroes’ by David Bowie, ‘Here Comes The Sun’ by George Harrison, and more, accompanied by an all-star live band.

Speaking about ‘Fantabulosa’, Boy George says

“We all know that the power and the creative influence of the LGBTQIA+ community across music, fashion, film, art and design is unmatched in its breadth and depth. After decades of struggle for acceptance we stand proud and united as we continue to colour and shape music, dance, art, film, design and fashion around the world.”

The show also features fellow Australian musicians Mo’Ju and Odette as special guests.

‘Fantabulosa’ is coming to Sydney and Melbourne in 2022. Tickets are available for purchase online from the 12th of November 2021.

$1 + GST from every ticket purchased will be donated to the Mardi Gras Foundation, to give LGBTQIA+ communities a voice to celebrate with pride and hope, to improve the lives of those who face barriers for being themselves. Courtney Act, also known outside of drag as Shane Jenek, has also written and recently released a memoir titled ‘Caught in the Act’. The memoir details the story of Shane Jenek’s childhood, coming-of-age, and career as Courtney Act.

Written during lockdown in LA, ‘Caught in the Act’ is described by Jenek as “an anthropological study that reads like a sexed-up tumblr fanfic”.

From Jenek’s first taste of performing arts during his upbringing in the Brisbane suburbs, moving to Sydney and discovering drag for the first time, as well as appearances in Australian Idol, RuPaul’s Drag Race, and Celebrity Big Brother UK, ‘Caught In The Act’ reflects on the diverse and at times challenging life experiences of its author with candour and wit.

‘Caught In The Act’ is now available at all good bookstores in Australia and online book retailers.
