Australian Eurovision star Silia Kapsis lands major K-pop film role

Australia's own Silia Kapsis has landed a role in a major K-pop film project.

The artists, who represented Cyprus at Eurovision 2024 with Liar, took to Instagram to share the news with her followers.

“I’m in a PARAMOUNT PICTURES FEATURE FILM!! This is every 18 yr old girls’ dream 🥹 lil Silia would be proud!”

The movie

The film is a collaboration between Paramount and HYBE America, the entertainment company behind global K-pop sensations including BTS and NewJeans.

It will be directed by Benson Lee, whose previous work Seoul Searching screened at Sundance, and is written by Eileen Shim.

Filming will begin later this year in South Korea, with a release date scheduled for February 12, 2027.

The story follows a Korean American teenager who auditions for a K-pop girl group against her parents’ wishes.

The production will be the first major Hollywood studio film to be shot entirely in South Korea, underlining its significance for both the Korean film industry and the global reach of K-pop.

From Eurovision to the silver-screen

For Silia, the role marks another milestone in a career that has already moved at lightning speed.

At just 17-years-old she burst onto the international stage at Eurovision in Malmö.

She qualified for the final and impressed viewers with a strong performance, including unforgettable choreography.

She returned to Eurovision in 2025 as Australia's spokesperson to deliver our jury points.

Her future

Her participation capped off a whirlwind two years of singles, television appearances and performances in both Australia and Cyprus.

Now she adds “movie actor” to her resume before turning 19.

Her Eurovision performance introduced her to a huge audience, and she has now used that platform to launch herself into something that may be even bigger.
