Television news website, TV Tonight, has revealed that an Australian Eurovision artist announcement maybe sooner than we think.

In their interview with SBS Channel Manager Natalie Edgar, she revealed a lot of the exciting programming news for SBS and SBS Viceland in 2026.

Naturally, the discussion turned to Eurovision, where Natalie noted the return to the Austrian capital for Eurovision 2026.

"We’ve been broadcasting Eurovision for over 40 years. And of course, Australia competed in Eurovision for the very first time in Vienna in 2015 so it feels like a nice kind of circle back to where it all began for us,” she told them.

She gave some hints about the artist, saying not only that they would be announced "very soon" but also sharing a few more details.

“I signed an NDA, but I’ve gotta tell you, it’s really good. I think everyone will be happy.”

Dami Im?

TV Tonight raised the topic of Dami Im coming back for another tilt which Natalie responding:

“Look, I think you’ll be surprised pleasantly surprised. Let me say that.”

In mid-December, Dami Im did discuss returning with the Confessions of a Reality Star podcast, saying:

“Now, I don’t know if I want to do it again. I mean, if someone’s like, ‘Dami, please do it again next year,’ I’d be like, oh, I’d have to say yes," she said.

"But at the moment I’m just like, I’m not sure about that. It requires so much energy and focus… and I have two little children. So it’s hard to just be laser-focused on something like Eurovision.”

When does Australia normally announce their artist?

In the last three years of internal announcements, the dates have been:

  • 21 February 2023: Voyager announced for Eurovision 2023

  • 6 March 2024: Electric Fields announced for Eurovision 2024

  • 26 February 2025: Go-Jo announced for Eurovision 2025.

So we may have a few more weeks to go.

Eurovision will be in Vienna from 12 to 16 May.
