Last month, Eurovision royalty Dami Im spoke to the Confessions of a Reality Star Podcast, an Australian show hosted by entertainment journalists Lachlan and Tahlia, reflecting on her journey from The X Factor to the Eurovision stage.
During the chat, Dami opened up about her time at the Contest, her thoughts on a potential return, and revealed an exciting collaboration planned to mark the 10th anniversary of her iconic Eurovision entry, Sound of Silence.
When asked how she plans to celebrate a decade since representing Australia at Eurovision, Dami shared the big news:
“10 years next year. That I find hard to believe, but 10 years on next year. I am releasing — I am working on a collaboration with Electric Fields to do a new version of Sound of Silence. I am so excited about this. This is going to be so cool. It’s so fun. It’s been the best.”
She went on to explain why Electric Fields were the perfect fit for the re-release:
“They’ve got their own such unique sound and flavour. To have Sound of Silence injected with what they’ve got… will make it so special.”
Earlier this week, Dami also teased “big things” to come during a Q&A on her social media, confirming that celebrations for the song’s milestone anniversary were well underway.
The collaboration with Electric Fields now forms a key part of what she has planned for fans.
Electric Fields — South Australian duo Zaachariaha Fielding and Michael Ross — represented Australia at Eurovision in 2024 with One Milkali (One Blood). The entry made history as the first Eurovision song to feature a dialect of Australia’s First Peoples, incorporating the Indigenous language Yankunytjatjara. While the duo narrowly missed out on a Grand Final spot, finishing 11th in their semi-final, their impact on the Contest was widely felt.
Their Eurovision credentials stretch back even further. In 2019, Electric Fields finished runner-up at the inaugural Eurovision – Australia Decides with 2000 and Whatever, losing out to Kate Miller-Heidke.
With deep ties to the Eurovision world and a distinctive sound, they appear to be a natural and exciting match for a refreshed version of Sound of Silence.
During the podcast, Dami also revealed thoughts about Eurovision she had never publicly shared before, particularly around the idea of returning to the Contest.

When asked what she would hope to gain from a second Eurovision experience, she said:
“When I said that I was going to go for it again in 2021, it was to have more control. To make the music that I want to make and work with the creative team that I choose and see what I can do and have that experience again. But knowing all the things I know now.”
However, Dami admitted her feelings about returning remain conflicted:
“Now, I don’t know if I want to do it again. I mean if someone’s like, ‘Dami, please do it again next year,’ I’d be like, oh, I’d have to say yes. I don’t have the no option in me. But at the moment I’m just like, I’m not sure about that. It requires so much energy and focus… and I have two little children. So it’s hard to just be laser focused on something like Eurovision.”
She also confirmed there had been informal conversations with SBS about a possible return, though nothing ever materialised:
“There were chats and it was never like, ‘You were going to do it.’ It was always a bit like, ‘You could be doing it.’ It was always a bit up in the air… and then I realised, oh okay, probably won’t happen — and it didn’t happen.”
Despite this, Dami expressed gratitude for the continued love from fans:
“It’s really nice when fans are like, ‘Dami, come and save Eurovision.’ I think that’s really flattering. But I don’t know if I’m able to come and save you.”
While a Eurovision comeback may remain uncertain, one thing is clear, Dami Im’s connection to the Contest is as strong as ever. With a landmark anniversary approaching and a highly anticipated collaboration with Electric Fields on the way, fans will soon get a fresh take on one of Australia’s most beloved Eurovision moments, proving that Sound of Silence still has plenty more to say, ten years on.

I really enjoyed reading about Dami Im’s Eurovision return and the Sound of Silence collaboration; the way she talks about her journey and musical evolution feels honest and inspiring. I was scrolling through this between study sessions during a hectic week, and honestly, some online finance class help would’ve given me a little extra focus and headspace to slow down and fully enjoy uplifting posts like this without feeling rushed.
