ABBA’s new songs from ‘Voyage’ debut on the Australian ARIA charts

Eurovision 1974 winners ABBA have made their debut on the Australian charts for the first time in 38 years.

Both of their new songs from their upcoming new album ‘Voyage’ made the top 40, ‘I Still Have Faith In You’ landed at No. 39 and ‘Don’t Shut Me Down’ made its debut at No. 27.

ABBA’s last new music single to make an appearance on the Australian chart was back in 1983 with ‘Under Attack’ which reached No. 96 on February 14. The song came from a double compilation album called ‘The Singles: The First Ten Years’ which peaked at No. 18 in Australia.

‘Under Attack’ was performed live by ABBA on December 11 in 1982 on the BBC’s ‘Late Late Breakfast Show’ and it was the bands last collective performance together.

The other single from the album ‘The Day Before You Came’ made the top 50 in Australia reaching No. 48 on November 15 1982.

ABBA’s newest music in 40 years made an impact on the streaming and download charts in Australia. ‘I Still Have Faith In You’ peaked at No. 2 on the Australian iTunes chart and No. 43 on the Spotify Daily Top 200 chart. ‘Don’t Shut Me Down’ peaked at No. 1 on the Australian iTunes chart and No. 42 on the Spotify Daily Top 200 chart. You can check out how the new songs performed on the streaming and download charts around the world here.

When it comes to the band’s success on the ARIA singles chart, it couldn’t come at a more unfortunate time for ABBA.

Kanye West’s new album ‘Donda’ and Drake’s ‘Certified Lover Boy’ have dominated the ARIA singles chart gaining huge success on music streaming platforms!

This week Drake’s new album had 20 songs debut in the top 50, a new record! Five songs made their debut in the top 10 alone with the highest debut from Drake being ‘Girls Want Girls’ featuring Lil Baby at No. 2.

The previous week Kanye West’s album had 19 songs debut in the ARIA top 50 singles chart. This week only four songs from ‘Donda’ remain on the chart.

If Drake and Kanye West had not yet released their new albums then this week things would have looked a bit different for the Eurovision winners. ‘Don’t Shut Me Down’ would have made its debut at No. 12 and ‘I Still Have Faith In You’ at No. 19.

Interestingly ABBA are not the only Eurovision winners on the Australian ARIA chart this week!

This years Eurovision winners from Italy Måneskin remain on the singles chart, with ‘Beggin’ sitting at No. 17. The song has achieved platinum status, selling over 70,000 units and peaked at No. 3.

ABBA's new album ‘Voyage’ is set to be released on November 5.
