The worlds of Aussie reality TV and the Eurovision Song Contest have much more crossover than one might initially believe!

While The Voice Australia is known for spotlighting emerging talent, several of its high-profile coaches have already stood (or are imminently about to stand) on one of music’s biggest stages - the Eurovision Song Contest.

Of the 22 coaches that have appeared on The Voice Australia, a whopping seven have either represented their nation or have a strong connection to the Contest.

As coaches on The Voice Australia, we are used to seeing these singers from the comfort of that iconic red swivelling chair, giving feedback to contestants. Seeing them in the unique situation of holding an entire nation on their shoulders at Eurovision is really an opportunity to flex their professional muscles.

Australian Eurovision Representatives

Delta Goodrem

Delta Goodrem brings a unique full-circle moment to this year’s Eurovision Song Contest as Australia’s representative, having long been a familiar face to viewers as a coach on The Voice Australia. She is the longest-running coach on the show and was in the debut season.

Known for her powerful vocals, emotional performances, and sharp mentoring style, Delta has helped guide countless aspiring artists - but now she steps back into the spotlight herself on one of the world’s biggest stages.

Her Eurovision entry showcases the same artistry and passion that made her a standout coach, giving fans a chance to see her not just as a mentor, but as a competitor once again.

Guy Sebastian

Guy Sebastian holds a special place in Eurovision history as Australia’s very first representative at the contest in 2015, setting the tone for our ongoing participation with a strong fifth-place finish.

He first appeared on The Voice Australia in season 8 (alongside Delta Goodrem and Boy George) and has been a key figure on The Voice Australia, where his experience as both a performer and songwriter has made him a respected and relatable coach.

His Eurovision journey highlighted the same charisma and musicality he brings to the judging panel, reinforcing his reputation as one of Australia’s most accomplished contemporary artists.

Jessica Mauboy

Jessica Mauboy has become one of the most familiar and trusted faces on The Voice Australia, where her experience as a hitmaker and performer gives her a strong connection to the contestants she mentors.

She first appeared on season 10 (alongside Guy Sebastian), a few years after her incredible effort at Eurovision 2018 with We Got Love.

As a coach, she brings warmth, industry knowledge, and a clear understanding of what it takes to turn raw talent into a polished stage act.

Kate Miller-Heidke

Kate Miller-Heidke has brought a distinctive mix of artistry, theatrical flair, and deep musical experience to The Voice Australia as a coach. She joined in season 13 (alongside Guy Sebastian) and is an ongoing coach in the upcoming season.

Already known for her genre-defying career and her memorable Eurovision run in 2019 with Zero Gravity, she joined the show with a reputation for spotting originality and helping singers find their own voice.

On the panel, she stands out for her thoughtful advice, playful energy, and ability to connect with contestants who want to do something a little different.

European Eurovision Representatives

Boy George

Boy George brought a bold, larger-than-life presence to The Voice Australia, where his pop-star pedigree and unmistakable personality made him one of the show’s most memorable coaches. He joined in season 6 (alongside Delta Goodrem) and stayed for five seasons.

As the frontman of Culture Club, he brought decades of experience in performance, style, and reinvention, and he used that to push contestants toward stronger, more confident choices on stage.

Boy George will now stand on the Eurovision stage alongside Italian singer Senhit as this year's entry for San Marino.

Eurovision Song Writer

Ronan Keating

Ronan Keating deepened his Eurovision legacy by co-writing Believe Again, Denmark's entry for the 2009 contest performed by Brinck, which qualified for the final and finished a respectable 13th place with 74 points.

He debuted as a coach on The Voice Australia in season 5 (alongside Delta Goodrem) and later returned for season 14. It's announced Ronan will stay on for the upcoming season to air later this year.

Eurovision Interval Act

Rita Ora

Rita Ora brought star power, pop credibility, and plenty of personality to The Voice Australia as a coach. Already established as an international hitmaker, she used her experience in the spotlight to mentor contestants with practical advice, confidence, and a keen ear for what makes a performance stand out.

Rita Ora made a splash at the first semi-final at Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool with her medley of Ritual, Anywhere, I Will Never Let You Down, and Praising You. She joined for season 10 (alongside Jessica Mauboy and Guy Sebastian) and stayed as a coach for three seasons.

Her presence on the panel added a sleek, contemporary edge to the show while reinforcing her status as one of the most recognisable voices in modern pop.

There are heaps of Eurovision and national final contestants that have competed on The Voice Australia over the years, including the likes of Sheldon Riley, Anja Nissen and Zaachariaha Fielding (of Electric Fields) - learn about them here.
