The Voice Australia artists with Eurovision connections

The Grand Finale of the 13th season The Voice Australia is on tonight.

Could one of the artists go on to compete at Eurovision? Well history says it's possible.

Over the years many artists who have competed on The Voice Australia have gone on to compete on the Eurovision stage.

In addition, many have taken part in national selections to go to Eurovision or at Junior Eurovision.

Let's take a look:

Eurovision artists

Anja Nissen

• The Voice Season 3 2014 - Winner

• Eurovision 2017 for Denmark – 20th

After winning The Voice Australia in 2014, Anja would go on to represent Denmark at Eurovision in 2017 with Where I Am. Anja finished 20th at the Contest in Kyiv.

Johnny Manuel

• Eurovision 2018 for Bulgaria - 14th (as part of Equinox)

• The Voice Season 9 2020 - Runner-up

Johnny Manuel was an American member of Bulgarian band Equinox who competed at Eurovision 2018 in Lisbon. They finished 14th with their song Bones.

Johnny moved to Australia to be with his partner. He competed on the 2020 edition of The Voice Australia finishing runner-up to Chris Sebastian (the brother of The Voice Australia coach and Eurovision 2015 artist Guy Sebastian)

MJ (Mary-Jean) O'Doherty

• Eurovision 2015 for Armenia - 16th

• The Voice Season 13 - Battle rounds

MJ, who has an Australian father and Armenian mother, was part of supergroup Genealogy who represented Armenia at Eurovision in 2015 with Face the Shadow finishing in 16th place.

She made the Battle Rounds of this year's season of The Voice Australia after getting through her audition. In the audition she sang Kate Miller-Heidke's Eurovision 2019 song Zero Gravity.

Sheldon Riley

• The Voice Season 7 2018 - 3rd

• The Voice Season 8 2019 - Semi-finals

• Eurovision 2022 for Australia - 16th

Sheldon competed on the seventh season of The Voice Australia in 2018 finishing 3rd. He returned in 2019 as an "all-star" where he made the semi-finals.

In 2022, Sheldon won Australia Decides to earn his place at Eurovision. He finished 16th in Turin with Not the Same.

Zaachariaha Fielding

• The Voice Season 3 Finalist 2014 (as part of duo ZK)

• Australia Decides 2019 – 2nd (as part of Electric Fields)

• Eurovision 2024 for Australia - 11th in the semi-finals (as part of Electric Fields)

We know him as one half of Electric Fields, but before this Zaachariaha Fielding was part of duo ZK with fellow indigenous singer Kristal West.

The duo disbanded soon after and the following year Zaachariaha joined forces with Michael Ross to form Electric Fields.

They almost went to Eurovision in 2019 when finishing runner-up to Kate Miller-Heidke (who is now a The Voice Australia coach). They were chosen to represent Australia this year with One Milkali (One Blood) where they finished 11th in the semi-final.

Many Voice artists have attempting to go to Eurovision by competing in national selection shows.

Junior Eurovision

Many artists from The Voice Kids or The Voice have gone on to represent Australia. Additionally, those who have represented us at Junior Eurovision went on to compete on The Voice.

Alexa Curtis

• The Voice Kids 2014 - Winner

• Junior Eurovision 2016 – 5th

Bella Paige

• The Voice Kids 2014 - Runner-Up

• Junior Eurovision 2015 Australia – 8th

• The Voice Season 7 2018 - Runner-Up

Jael Wena

• Junior Eurovision 2018 Australia - 3rd

• The Voice Season 11 2020 - Semi-finals

Jordan Anthony

• The Voice Season 8 2019 - 4th

• Junior Eurovision 2019 Australia – 8th

The Voice Australia Grand Finale is on Channel 7 tonight 27 October.
