Australia's own Eurovision star Sheldon Riley has returned to the AGT stage for the spin off of America's Got Talent: Fantasy League (AGT: Fantasy League) where he wowed the audience with his rendition of Loreen's Eurovision 2023 winning song 'Tattoo'.
Sheldon himself had competed at Eurovision 2022 in Turin, representing Australia with his emotive ballad 'Not The Same.' He finished second in his semi-final and in 15th place in the Grand Final.
Sheldon performed on the second episode of 'AGT: Fantasy League' which aired on January 8, 2024.
In selecting to mentor Sheldon for AGT: Fantasy League Scary Spice herself, Mel B, revealed she backs the Aussie for the emotion. Sheldon starts off wearing his signature mask and then reveals his face midway through his performance, reminiscent of his Eurovision 2022 performance, as he belts out a powerful rendition of 'Tattoo'.
Simon Cowell himself shared his praise for Sheldon after the performance:
"I always felt with Sheldon this was unfinished business. Your voice is so distinct and you are a proper what I would call a front man singer. So congratulations and welcome back."
Sheldon's performance got him a standing ovation from all four judges!! He has made it through to the semi-final round of the competition, which will begin in three weeks time.
AGT: Fantasy League follows the success of spin-offs like 'AGT: All-Stars' and 'AGT: Champions', judge competes against judge to determine who can put together the best line-up of amazing acts.
This competition welcomes some of the best acts to ever grace the 'Got Talent' stages from all over the world. This time around, for the first time in AGT history, fans are given the voting power right from the start.
60 acts from various Got Talent shows around the world were put on a shortlist on the America's Got Talent app that fans could vote on. The Top 40 nominated acts moved on to the televised round.
The judges each selected 10 acts to mentor in their teams. From the 40 acts, 10 acts perform each week over four consecutive weeks. One act each week advances directly to the final via the Golden Buzzer. From the remaining nine acts, five advance to the Semi-Finals and four are eliminated.
The show is hosted by Terry Crews with the four judges are Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel and Heidi Klum with Mel B returning to the judges panel.
The young talent is no stranger to AGT. Sheldon last competed on season 15 of AGT in 2020. He auditioned with the song 'Idontwannabeyouanymore' by Billie Eilish. Unfortunately, Sheldon was eliminated in the third quarter-final of the season after delivering his amazing rendition of the Kylie Minogue classic 'Can't Get You Out of My Head.'
