'Eurovision - Australia Decides' 2022 artist Sheldon Riley has revealed that his entry 'Not The Same' will be released on February 15!
When it comes to 'Not The Same' Sheldon has so far shared through interviews and his socials the following:
Sheldon wrote his Australia Decides entry back in 2015
He has continually been working on it
He went on to give it a major revamp turning it into a "dark Bond movie-inspired orchestral pop number"
Sheldon has collaborated with singer, songwriter and producer Cam Nacson and singer and songwriter Timi Temple for the instrumentation and production of the song
The song is inspired by Billie Eilish, James Bond and Barbara Pravi
The performance has a huge ending
His costume for the Australia Decides performance is by Anthony Capon of Melbourne fashion brand, Et Al, who helped to design Sheldon's original concept
On top of the announcement of the release date Sheldon also unveiled the single cover to his 'Eurovision - Australia Decides' entry which most likely reveals the mask Sheldon will be performing in on the Australia Decides stage. He will be wearing a crystal mask by House of Emmanuele.
The Australian jeweller has worked with many big artists including Kylie Minogue, Jennifer Lopez and Katy Perry. Sheldon has worn many of their works before.
In a previous interview with Aussievision Sheldon revealed that his staging on the Gold Coast is going to be big and epic:
“It’s going to be pretty massive hey! It’s going to be a really big show. I am so excited for the whole show.
He also described the overall performance:
"I'm just really proud of it. I can’t give too much away… but I will tell you it’s very dark, its orchestral, it’s musically very inspired by Billie Eilish and the James Bond themed songs like from 'Goldfinger' to 'Skyfall'. It’s got that oomph but then it has this really beautiful tie-in mixture I have been really inspired by Barbara Pravi from France. She really shaped the way in my mind you can just be you. And release music you really want to release and I remember speaking to one of the directors of Australia Decides, I was like does it need to be a bit more "Bond-y", does it need to be a bit more bigger, does it need to be more like ‘Rise Like a Phoenix’. And they are like you do you, and I'm like finally!"
If you are expecting a music video for 'Not The Same' then you will have to wait until after 'Eurovision - Australia Decides' 2022. Sheldon answered questions from fans on his Instagram and revealed: "There will be a music video, just not before I perform it live. There was a music video lined up to be filmed but due to constant re-scheduling, covid and cast and crew having to isolate.. I didn't want to rush creating this video just for the sake of having a video. It will happen, just not yet ♡ xx"
