Ahead of Serbia's final of Pesma Za Evroviziju 25 this Friday night (Saturday morning in Australia), six members of the Aussievision team have listened to the 16 songs that will be competing for their chance to represent Serbia at the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel this year.
The 16 artists were chosen through two semi-finals, qualifying via a 50/50 jury and televote split.
Let's take a look at who the team liked the most!
16th to 11th place
16. Maršali - Po policama sećanja (0 points)
= 15. Ana & The Changes – Brinem (1 point)
= 15. Sedlar - Oči boje zemlje (1 point)
13. Kruz Roudi – Sve i odmah (8 points)
12. Milan Nikolić feat. Caka – Storia del amor (11 points)
11. Oxajo - MaMa (12 points)
-------------
10. Vukayla - MASK (16 points)
Highs: 7 points from Emma
9. Princ - Mila (21 points)
Highs: 12 points from Joel
"This guy not only has a great look about him but also a powerhouse voice to match. He delivers this power ballad with incredible passion, drama and intensity. In a year packed with songs designed to win over the public at Eurovision, this one has “jury vote winner” written all over it." ~Joel
8. Lensy - Hvala ti (21 points)
Highs: 10 points from Emma
"Whilst ballads aren't my thing, Serbian ballads always do well at Eurovision and this looks great on stage. It would be a nice contrast to the female heavy pop that has already been selected for Eurovision this year." ~Emma
7. Harem Girls - Aladin (25 points)
Highs: 10 points from Jamie
"This song and staging would suit great on the Eurovision stage. They were one of the better performances in the semi-finals in what is a very open Serbian national final." ~Jamie
6. Biber – Da mi se vratiš (30 points)
Highs: 6 points from Jamie
5. Filarri – Meet and Greet (34 points)
Highs: 12 points from Hayley
"Yep.... we have something here. I remember last year Filarri was brutally robbed of a spot in the final so it is so good he is in the final where he deserves to be. This song has really grown on me and its starting to feel like a baby brother to Filip Balos' MASTERPIECE Novi plan drugi san." ~Hayley
4. Tam - Durum Durum (35 points)
Highs: 10 points from Liv, 8 points from Hayley
"This will be on high rotation as a studio for the rest of the year for me - what a unique sound and production, I wouldn't be disappointed at all if this was selected for Eurovision. Quality through and through." ~Liv
"I really liked this one on the first listen - it's a banger but may be swallowed up if it goes to Eurovision." ~Hayley
3. Mimi Mercedez - Turbo žurka (38 points)
Highs: 12 points from Liv, 10 points from Dale
"Shaking my ass profusely - not only is this incredibly catchy, it has a lot to hang your hat on in terms of staging opportunities, crowd participation and choreography. I get the impression from that semi-final performance she's got a bit left in the tank - wrap this up with a bow and send it express post to Basel." ~Liv
2. Bojana & David – Šesto čulo (46 points)
Highs: 12 points from Emma, 10 points from Joel
"I have no idea what is going on here, particularly with the dancers' costumes, but I love the dance breaks and the catchy chorus and would love to see this in Basel." ~Emma
"This could have easily got my 12 points too. It’s exactly the feel-good upbeat sound I like hearing on the radio, and I can see people voting for this in droves." ~Joel
1. Iskaz – Trendseter (50 points)
Highs: 12 points from Jamie and Dale
"A definite high energy performance compared to the other finalists. An advantage being near the end of the running order for the final. This one stood out to me amongst the 16 finalists." ~Jamie
