Team comments
"For a country their size, Germany should be sending better songs. Despite not being the top scorer this decade, Baller by Abor & Tynna is a song that is far more representative of Germany's music scene. The song was a bright spot in what has been a dismal record for Germany, including three bottom 5 finishes. Their results in 2024 and 2025 have been a step in the right direction, but the country is yet to achieve a top 10 finish in the 2020s. I hope that Germany can turn their fortunes around in the latter half of this decade and send the quality songs I know they are capable of producing." ~Laura
"Germany could so easily become a powerhouse if they decided to try. But with their misguided national final, it's a small miracle that anything of any quality got through at all. This isn't to say that there aren't good songs in their national final, far from it. It's more that the German jury is unable to know a good thing when they see it and sink the songs that have any potential. They insist upon self-sabotage." ~Saskia
"Germany's three consecutive last-place finishes in the 2020s prove that there is something completely wrong in their national final selection, and although 2024 is almost a one-off, this year is not worth the risk. If they want to get back to the Top 10 or even Top 5, send something similar to Marie Riem, Patty Gurdy, Knightclub or Voxxclub. Otherwise, Germany will be in the purgatory of mediocrity." ~John Christian
"This is a super tough one to call. I feel Germany should be doing much much better at this but three last/almost last places is really a shocking result (with Lord of the Lost possibly one of the biggest robberies ever). Baller definitely a step in the right direction - I expect edgy stuff from Germany - maybe this is the start of a new era. This is another country that can get away with sending something not poppy - TAKE A RISK GERMANY. The results from the last two years is an improvement. I would really love a Germany win soon as I think they would put on a kick-ass contest." ~Hayley
"I actually think fans pick on Germany more than they probably deserve. There's nothing hatefully bad in this lineup, and there's at least two entries here (Lord of the Lost and Abor & Tynna) which I think did worse than they deserved to. Still, Germany's national final format continues to reliably produce diabolical results (with 2024 being a particular low point, and 2023 only narrowly avoiding disaster) and, despite often having quite good options on the table, the German audience shows a worrying passion for mediocrity. Wouldn't be surprised to see them hit the jackpot one of these years, but I suspect it will be out of luck more than because anyone at the broadcaster has a clear idea of what works." ~Craig
