Jiva will represent Azerbaijan at Eurovision 2026 with her song Just Go

Overnight, the Azerbaijani broadcaster ITV has released its song for the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna.

The country known as the 'land of fire' is being represented by Jiva with her song Just Go. The song was written by Azerbaijani-American composer Fuad Javadov.

About Jiva

Jiva, born Jamila Hashimova, was born in Moscow in 1982. She began singing at an early age and started her music career at age 21. She participated in The Voice of Azerbaijan 2025 turning all four coaches' chairs. She eventually won the competetion with a televote of 42%.

Jiva previously tried to represent Azerbaijan in 2011, when she participated in the national selection Milli Seçim Turu 2011. Jiva was eliminated in the heats of the selection show, while Azerbaijan would go on to win the whole contest with Ell and Nikki's Running Scared.

She was one of 18 acts shortlisted to participate in audition rounds for Eurovision 2026. Following auditions, three artists advanced to a final audition, with a jury and focus groups having the final descision.

Azerbaijan at Eurovision

Azerbaijan began participating in Eurovision in 2008. They have participated in every year since making this their 18th entry. They previously won the competion in 2011 with Ell and Nikki's Running Scared. They hosted the contest the following year in Baku.

Previously, Azerbaijan had one of the the best qualification percentages in the contest. However in recent years, Azerbaijan has struggled to progress to the final with a run of three years in a row without qualification. They were represented last year by Mamagama with the song Run with U.

Azerbaijan will compete in the first half of semi-final 2 of the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest on 14 May 2026 in Vienna.
