Mitch Tambo and iOTA next two artists for Eurovision Australia Decides


Today SBS revealed two more artists vying to represent Australia at Eurovision.


Rising First Nations artist Mitch Tambo and multi award winning singer-songwriter and actor iOTA will compete at Eurovision - Australia Decides in February.


They join previously announced artists Casey Donovan and Vanessa Amorosi and six more acts yet to be announced.




Mitch Tambo is 29-year-old Gamilaraay and Birri Gubba man who made the Grand Final of this year's Australia's Got Talent.


During his time there many fans rated him as a possible Eurovision contestant after his unique rendition of Australian classic 'You're the Voice'.



Mitch Tambo told SBS, “I’m thrilled to be part of Eurovision Australia Decides in 2020 and to get the chance to perform on the world’s biggest stage. Eurovision songs often mix elements of traditional and contemporary sounds, which is exactly what I set out to do in my own music. Most importantly, it brings different cultures together all under the banner of music, which is beautiful thing!”


iOTA is a 51-year-old multi award winning singer, songwriter, musician, producer, playwright, stage performer, film actor and visual artist. He is an experienced and unique artists and has released albums as well as performing in theatrical productions such as Hedwig & the Angry Itch and Rocky Horror Picture Show. He also appeared in Mad Max Fury Road and The Great Gatsby.



iOTA said “I'm not your typical music competition kind of guy, but I am attracted to the Eurovision Song Contest for the colour and movement… music and performance… light and shade… creativity and self-expression… singing and working an audience.”

Eurovision - Australia Decides will take place at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on the following dates.  

  • Friday 7 February evening - Jury show

  • Saturday 8 February - Matinee (family show)

  • Saturday 8 February evening - Live show

The Saturday evening show will be broadcast live on SBS with the winner of the contest represent Australia at Eurovision in Rotterdam, The Netherlands in May.
