Luxembourg: Artists announced for Luxembourg Song Contest 2025

Craig Land

After returning to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2024 for the first time in almost 30 years, the pressure is on for Luxembourg to build on their strong first result in Malmö.

Overnight, broadcaster RTL took the first steps towards Basel 2025 by announcing the 7 artists who will compete at the Luxembourg Song Contest, the Grand Duchy's new national final format, early next year.

The seven artists are:

  • Laura Thorn

  • Luzac

  • Mäna

  • One Last Time

  • Rafa Ela

  • Rhythmic Soulwave

  • Zero Point Five

The line-up includes two acts who will be well-known to anyone who followed the first edition of the Luxembourg Song Contest this year.

Rafa Ela, along with her duet partner Angy, performed the power ballad Drop at this year's edition, where they came fifth. Ordinarily a solo act who has pedigree from performing in Luxembourg's Next Popstar and Top Voice Luxembourg, Rafa Ela will be hoping to make her voice heard this year.

Also returning from LSC 2024 is the pop-rock band One Last Time, made up of members Andrea Galleti, Jonathan Fersino, Tom Sagramola, Alessandro Sorbello, and Barbara Salvi. They'll be looking to improve on their sixth-place finish with their song Devil in the Detail at this year's national final.

As well as the returnees, this year's lineup includes a wide variety of promising young talent with a notable degree of genre diversity.

As well as country-folk band Zero Point Five, the most interesting act is potentially the six-piece band Rhythmic Soulwave, which combines international musical traditions as diverse as rock, jazz, Latin music and classical music!

Meanwhile, a quick look at Luzac's back catalogue suggests that we can likely expect at least one French-language song in this year's field (to follow on from Naomi Ayé's Paumée sur terre and TALI's Fighter this year).

The seven acts were selected after a grueling audition process before an all-star panel of former Eurovision acts, including Marie Myriam (France 1977), Niamh Kavanagh (Ireland 1993), Eldar Gasimov (Azerbaijan 2011) and Poli Genova (Bulgaria 2011 and 2016).

The songs which the acts will perform will be announced in the coming weeks, ahead of the live final on 25 January next year.
