Liza Vassilieva takes out MGP Semi 5
The last of the Melodi Grand Prix semi finals was run and won overnight, and it was Liza Vassilieva who has progressed to the final.
As with the other previous four semis, there were two duels, with the winners progressing to the Gold Duel and the winner of the Gold Duel was then decided by the public via online voting.
In the first duel, it was Jenny Jenssen vs Elin & The Woods, which left Kevin Boine and Liza Vassilieva to battle it out in the second duel. Elin & The Woods and Liza won their respective duels and moved on to the Gold Duel, with Liza taking the win in the Gold Duel.
Elin & The Woods created a beautiful nature scene with their staging, and carefully incorporated both the drummer and the singer in the staging so they didn’t look out of place in the scene they were trying to create.
Liza’s staging definitely matched the uptempo nature of the song, with plenty of colour and action filling the stage.
We also heard the last of the prequalified songs, with Tone Damli performing her song ‘Hurts Sometimes’. She had staging elements that could potentially remind viewers of staging from Eurovision’s gone by, but none the less it was effective staging.
Now attention turns to the final on the 15th February (5:50am AEDT 16th February), where Liza will join the other semi winners and the prequalified artists to battle it out for the chance to represent Norway in Rotterdam.
