Lidl pays homage to Gina G's Eurovision hit in new advert

The German international discount retailer chain has released a new Eurovision-themed advert in the UK.

The ad uses Gina G's Eurovision 1996 song Ooh Aah... Just a Little Bit and, as you'd probably guess, it's swapped out "Little" for "Lidl."

Aussie Gina G performed for the UK at Eurovision 1996 coming in 8th place.

The Lidl version is sung by English singer and actress Martin McCutcheon.

Most Australian fans will know her from Love Actually where she starred alongside Portugal's Eurovision 1996 artist.

Martine was also in Eastenders for several years and has recently appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox, Masked Singer UK and was "killed" by a wheel of cheese in Midsomer Murders.

The camp and cheesy advert also featured Charity Shop Sue, internet celebrity Gareth from Huns Net and Diane from the show Traitors.

The promo is all about customers downloading the Lidl app. They will be hoping they have as much success as Gina G did commercially.

The song went no.1 in the UK and charted all over the world including no.12 in the United States.
