KEiiNO releases their Melodi Grand Prix entry 'Monument'

They were the fan favourites at the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv two years ago with their hit song 'Spirit in the Sky', and now they’re back! KEiiNO will be taking part in the Norwegian national final Melodi Grand Prix with their new single, ‘Monument’, released just moments ago.

More than a thousand people tuned in to the official KEiiNO YouTube channel to listen to the song live as it premiered. Group members Fred, Alexandra and Tom were active from their official YouTube channel in the chat section of the video, saying hello and engaging with fans prior to its premiere, as fans sent them luck from across Europe and around the world.

As with their previous Melodi Grand Prix entry, ‘Spirit in the Sky’, their new song 'Monument' features an electro-pop sound and a mix of both English and Sámi lyrics.

KEiiNO are one of the six automatic finalists of this years Melodi Grand Prix, guaranteeing them a position in the finale show on 20 February (21 February AEDT). They will be joined in the final by another Melodi Grand Prix favourite in Rein Alexander, Andreas Haukeland’s character Tix, the group Stavangerkameratene, ‘The Voice’ contestant Kaja Rode, and ‘X Factor’ contest Atle Pettersen.

However, you won’t have to wait around for a month to see KEiiNO perform their new uptempo electro-pop song, as they will also be performing it in the first semi-final this weekend.

Australians have been massive fans of KEiiNO. The group topped our televote results at the Eurovision grand final two years ago, showing just how much we loved ‘Spirit in the Sky’. They then went on to do a tour of Australia, and then even released a duet with our very own Australia Decides runner ups – Electric Fields.

Tune in to the first semifinal of Melodi Grand Prix from 05:50am AEDT this Sunday to catch all of the competing entries and see KEiiNO perform ‘Monument’ for the first time.
