Flying the flag for Montenegro after a decade's absence at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Tbilisi is Asja Džogović with her song I tužna i srećna priča.

You can find details on the entry, the artist, and Montenegro's history at Junior Eurovision below.

About the artist: Asja Džogović

Asja Džogović is a 13-year-old eighth grader at the Risto Ratković Elementary School in Bijelo Polje, 109 kilometres northeast of Podgorica.

She has been the winner of numerous music awards at local and regional festivals, such as Naša Radost (Podgorica) and Zlatna Nota (Novi Pazar), with standout performances at Zlatna Pahulja (Rožaje), the Đurđevdanski Festival (Banja Luka), and Ja Sam Tvoj Drug (Požega). Her career highlights to date include Grand Prix awards at the Kids Stars Festival in Sarajevo and Voice of the Stars in Zagreb in 2024, along with multiple accolades at the ANGEL VOICE festival in Belgrade.

Music remains her greatest passion, and in her free time, she enjoys painting and playing volleyball.

She was internally selected by the country's national broadcaster, RTCG, back in September, after being chosen by a panel consisting of Stana Salgo (editor of music programs at RTCG), Branka Banović (head of the music editorial office at RTCG), and Igor Pejović (head of the youth editorial office of RTCG). The decision was made unanimously after considering ten candidates and a detailed analysis of their awards and performances.

About the song: I tužna i srećna priča

Posted on the Montesong YouTube account, the song was composed by Danijel Alibabić, who represented Serbia and Montenegro at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 as part of the band No Name with the song Zauvijek moja.

Translated as 'Both a sad and a happy story', the song is dedicated to children who grow up without parental care. It tells the story of a 'dreamer' who walks in search of a home, dreaming of a roof, warmth, and love.

The videoclip was filmed in a studio similar to the one used for Dobrodošli, Montenegro's Eurovision song this year, which also touched on a serious social topic, that of domestic violence.

Montenegro in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest

Almost two months after Montenegro successfully qualified for the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in the country's history, it was announced on July 18 2014 that it would debut in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest for the first time as an independent country. Before this, the country participated in the 2005 edition as part of Serbia and Montenegro.

Maša Vujadinović and Lejla Vulić would represent the nation at the 2014 contest with the song Budi dijete na jedan dan ('Be a child for a day'), which finished 14th out of the 16 participating countries with 26 points. The following year, Jana Mirković would represent the country with Oluja, which finished 13th out of the 17 participant countries, with 36 points.

Now, following its return to the senior Eurovision stage after two years of absence, RTCG announced in June that the country would return to the Junior Eurovision stage after a decade of absence, stating that the return 'represents a new opportunity to affirm young talents and promote Montenegrin music on the international stage'.

We will find out in December if Asja can deliver a great result for her country!
