This year, Italy will be represented at Junior Eurovision 2025 by Leonardo Giovannangeli with the energetic entry Rockstar.
You can find details on the entry, the artist, and the history of Italy at Junior Eurovision below.
About the artist: Leonardo Giovannangeli
Hailing from the Italian capital Rome, Leonardo grew up in an environment that encouraged creativity and musical exploration. From a young age, he showed a natural affinity for performing, often singing at home and taking part in school or local music events.
He featured as a finalist on the latest Italian edition of The Voice Kids with team Clementino, Italy's last two Junior Eurovision representatives Melissa Agliottone (of Melissa & Ranya) and Simone Grande have also been chosen after competing on The Voice Kids.
Leonardo has also competed at or featured on Sanremo Junior, The Coach and Fuoriclasse Talent - all in a days work for the aspiring 11-year-old.
He has cited Michael Jackson as a notable musical influence and inspiration as well as featuring the lyrics after the King of Pop.
About the song: Rockstar
Released on 3 November Rockstar is primarily in Italian with some English feature lyrics.
The song is quite the departure from Italy's usual offerings at Junior Eurovision. Rockstar is a layered, youthful anthem that features rap elements and the most swagger a pre-teen can reasonably muster.
The lyrics revolve around Leonardo's desire to one day become a rockstar. Perfectly incapsulated by the lyrics "...I dream one day of filling San Siro" and "Be like Michael on every poster", performing at Italy's largest stadium with over 75,000 seats and being as recognisable as one of the most notable performers of all time Michael Jackson. The song also touches on music being Leonardo's safe space and spiritual home - a sentiment many can relate to.
The music video mostly features Leonardo Giovannangeli cruising around a Cave di Arzo in Switzerland, a large open air museum in Switzerland performing his song with lots of energy, dance and colour.
Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest
This year will mark Italy's eleventh participation at Junior Eurovision. The country has had a successful presence at Junior Eurovision, winning on debut in 2014 with the wonderful entry Tu primo grande amore performed by Vincenzo Cantiello. Their second-best result was third in 2016 with Cara Mamma (Dear Mom) performed by Fiamma Boccia.
In recent years, they've had consistent Top 10 results with most entries sung in Italian and English. The nation has yet to host a Junior Eurovision contest.
