Junior Eurovision 2020 will "Move The World" in November

Over the weekend as the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 tribute show ‘Europe Shine A Light’ was wrapping up the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Telewizja Polska (TVP) revealed more news on the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020.

The 18th edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest is to be hosted by TVP in Warsaw on November 29. It will be the first time a public broadcaster will host two Junior Eurovision Song Contests in a row, after Viki Gabor won the 2019 title with her song ‘Superhero’.

The slogan for this years contest is #MoveTheWorld released along side the new logo (pictured above).

In the official press release for the Junior Eurovision announcement Martin Österdahl, the new EBU Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest and Junior Eurovision Song Contest said:

“I couldn’t be more excited to be working with the incredible team at TVP on my first Junior Eurovision Song Contest. They have the skills, creativity and enthusiasm to produce a fantastic show. It’s never been more important to recognise the power of young people to “Move The World” and I’m looking forward to seeing all the talented singers perform later this year.”

The Acting President of TVP explained further:

“Big musical projects, such as the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, have great value, because they bring optimism and hope. The slogan of this year's Junior Eurovision, ‘Move the World’, underlines the necessity of taking positive actions for the common good. One such action is the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. I am glad that TVP, after the success of last year's edition, was chosen again as the host and organiser of this incredible musical event.”

Both the EBU and TVP have admitted that the current COVID-19 pandemic has influenced the planning for the event, but they have ensured that the event will take place with “a number of different scenarios” to be in place.

In regards to whether we will see Australia return to the Contest, there has been no further developments as yet.
