On this day, March 8 1996, 'Ooh Aah... Just a Little Bit' was selected to be the UK's entry in to Eurovision 1996.
This marks 25 years since the song became a Eurovision entry.
'Ooh Aah... Just a Little Bit' was of course performed by none other than Australia's very own Gina G (real name Gina Gardiner).
Gina took out the national final called 'The Great British Song Contest 1996' winning the four song final after navigating the earlier semi-final of eight songs.
The 100% televote saw the song get 113,576 votes which was miles in front of Code Red's 'I Gave You Everything' which finished on 41,791.
The song would go on to place 8th at Eurovision in Oslo when voting was conducted entirely by the jury.
But it was the commercial success of 'Ooh Aah... Just a Little Bit' that was most impressive.
It went no.1 in the UK (the last Eurovision song to do so) and also no.1 in Israel. It hit no.5 in Australia, Denmark and Norway and most impressively made it to no.12 in the United States.
It is the sixth highest Eurovision song to chart in American and was also Grammy-Award-nominated for a Best Dance Recording.
Gina G went on to have a few more top 10 hits in the UK before taking a break from the music industry. She returned in the 2000s and had another attempt at Eurovision in but finished in 5th (and last) place.
As of 2017 she was living in Los Angeles with her husband producing music under her own label Stuntgirl Music.
