Eurovision winners Måneskin and Duncan Laurence make the top 100 Shazam list of 2021



Two of the most recent Eurovision winners Måneskin and Duncan Laurence have made it on the Global Top 100 Shazam list of 2021!


Yes that Shazam app that helps you identify songs. Well, millions of music fans use the app to find the latest trending music.


It is said that Shazam is a good indication of what is trending and it is used by the music industry to see what people are into, which then helps radio stations and record labels for instance, to analyse these trends to help determine what to play or release.


This year at the top of the list of songs which received most Shazams in 2021 was Australian rapper, Masked Wolf, whose 2019 song 'Astronaut in the Ocean' reached No. 1 with 11.7 million music fans "Shazaming" it, becoming popular after going viral on TikTok. At No. 2 sits The Weeknd's 'Save Your Tears' garnered 8.5 million Shazams, followed closely by 'Bad Habits' by Ed Sheeran with 8.1 million.


Let’s take a look at where our Eurovision winners ended up in the Global Top 100 Shazam list of 2021:

No. 5 - Måneskin – ‘Beggin’


Måneskin added 'Beggin' as a cover of the 1967 Four Seasons song to their repertoire back in 2017, however with their newfound fame, thanks to their Eurovision win this year and discovery through TikTok made them huge!


People cannot get enough of them and the song has become extremely popular. ‘Beggin’ has topped the charts across the world, including No.3 in Australia and peaked at No. 13 on the US Billboard Hot 100.


'Beggin' has the fifth most Shazams globally in 2021. 'Beggin' also made it to the top 20 of the Most Shazamed Songs in Australia in 2021 sitting at No. 14.



No. 12 - Duncan Laurence feat. FLETCHER – 'Arcade'


Duncan Laurence’s 2019 winning song ‘Arcade’ together with American singer Fletcher has also made the list. ‘Arcade’ has continued to receive love beyond 2019, thank you TikTok! It reached commercial success around the world including making it to No. 30 on the US Billboard Hot 100 charts. 'Arcade' was the 12th most Shazamed song of 2021.



No. 61 - Måneskin – 'I Wanna Be Your Slave'


Another Måneskin song makes the top 100!


‘I Wanna Be Your Slave’ is another Måneskin song that has seen success across the charts worldwide since its release in July. It is the third release from their 'Teatro d'ira: Vol. I' album. Måneskin have also released a version of the song with Iggy Pop.


'I Wanna Be Your Slave' is the 61st most shazamed song in the 2021 list, globally.


It is so great to see Eurovision artists be recognised for their music around the world after the Contest.
