Eurovision 2014 winner Conchita Wurst has announced her retirement from all things Eurovision.

In a statement posted to her social media accounts on Tuesday afternoon, Wurst said she is moving on to focus on other projects and to "let new things evolve".

Consequently, the Austrian icon will not be involved in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest which will take place in Vienna this May.

The full statement reads as follows:

"The Eurovision Song Contest has shaped my life. It was my stage, my home, my springboard, and a chapter for which I am deeply grateful. As an artist, change is my greatest constant. From now on, I am withdrawing from the Eurovision context. I am moving on to focus more on other professional projects and to let new things evolve.

"My connection to the ESC remains - as a part of my history, not as the place for my next steps. My decision is personal and I will not comment on it further.

"Thank you, with love, Tom."

In 2014, Wurst delivered Austria their first Eurovision win in 48 years with Rise Like A Phoenix and was heavily involved in the following 2015 competition as a host and opening act.
