Eurovision stars Måneskin and Sam Ryder nominated for 2023 MTV Video Music Awards

Eurovision 2021 winners, Måneskin, and Eurovision 2022 runner-up Sam Ryder have been nominated for the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).


As Måneskin continue their 'Rush! World Tour', the Italian rockers have been nominated for a MTV VMA in the 'Best Rock' category for their 2022 release 'The Loneliest'. Other rock entries in the category include:

  • Foo Fighters - 'The Teacher'

  • Linkin Park - 'Lost (Original Version)'

  • Red Hot Chili Peppers - 'Tippa My Tongue'

  • Metallica - 'Lux Æterna'

  • Muse - 'You Make Me Feel Like It’s Halloween'


'The Loneliest' charted across the world peaking at No. 1 in Italy and Belgium and reaching No. 75 on the Billboard Global 200.



Måneskin are no strangers to the MTV awards. After their Eurovision win for Italy in 2021 the group were nominated at the MTV Europe Music Awards in the 'Best Group', 'Best Rock' and 'Best Italian Act' categories winning the award for 'Best Rock'.


In last year's MTV Video Music Awards they were nominated in the 'Best New Artist', 'Best Alternative' and 'Group of the Year' categories. They took home the 'Best Alternative' award for their hit single 'I Wanna Be Your Slave'.


Also last year they were nominated in the MTV Europe Music Awards for 'Best Rock' and 'Best Italian Act' and won the award for best 'Best New Artist Video – International' for 'Supermodel' at the 'MTV Video Music Awards Japan'.


On top of all their MTV awards nominations and wins Måneskin were nominated for their first Grammy just this year for 'Best New Artist'.


Their 'Rush! World Tour' will be taking them to four shows in Australia. Check out all their show dates from North and South America to Asia here.


For the UK Eurovision 2022 runner-up Sam Ryder, it has been non-stop successes since Turin, where Sam blew the roof off with his entry 'Space Man'.


Sam Ryder has been nominated in the 'Push Performance of the Year' category for his heartfelt rendition of 'All the Way Over' taken off his UK No. 1 album 'There's Nothing but Space, Man!'.



Sam is joined by many new up-and-coming acts in his category. They include:

  • Saucy Santana - 'Booty'

  • Stephen Sanchez - 'Until I Found You'

  • JVKE - 'golden hour'

  • Flo Milli - 'Conceited'

  • Reneé Rapp - 'Colorado'

  • Armani White - 'GOATED'

  • Fletcher - 'Becky's So Hot'

  • Tomorrow X Together - 'Sugar Rush Ride'

  • Ice Spice – 'Princess Diana'

  • FLO – 'Losing You'

  • Lauren Spencer Smith - 'That Part'

This is Sam's first MTV award nomination.


In other huge news earlier in the year it was announced that Sam had been nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award. His song 'Fought & Lost', with Jamie Hartman and Tom Howe, for the hit Apple TV+ show 'Ted Lasso' was nominated in the 'Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics' category. The 2023 Primetime Emmy Awards are set to take place in September.



The 2023 MTV VMAs will be broadcast live on MTV channels on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 (US Time).
