Eurovision national finals 2025 - what we know so far

The Eurovision 2025 season is almost upon us!

Before the big week of Eurovision in May, there are many months of countries choosing their entries in national finals.

Not every nation competing in Eurovision will hold a competition to select their entries,

These are the confirmed national finals and dates for 2025:

Albania

Festivali i Këngës will be held in December (date TBC). The artists competing were announced this week.

Croatia

Croatia will be holding their national final DORA to choose their entry for Basel. Dates are to be confirmed but it will take place in February.

Denmark

The long-running Dansk Melodi Grand Prix will be used to select the Danish entry for Eurovision 2025. The final will be held on March 1.

Estonia

Eesti Laul will be used to select Estonia's Eurovision 2025 representative. The final will be held on 15 February with other dates and details still to come.

Finland

The country's national final UMK has proved popular in recent years. It'll be back again in 2025 with the final on 8 February. Artists are due to be announced on 8 January.

Iceland

Iceland's Söngvakeppnin is back again for another year. Dates and details are yet to be confirmed but it is expected to take place in February.

Ireland

Eurosong will be used again to choose the Irish representative. Details are yet to be released but it is expected to take place in February.

Italy

Italy's Sanremo Music Festival has been running longer than Eurovision itself. The five-night marathon will run from 11-15 February with the winner earning the right to represent the nation in Basel.

Latvia

Supernova will chose Latvia's Eurovision entry. The national final will be held in February (dates TBC).

Lithuania

The final of Lithuani's national final Eurovizija is due for 15 February with other details and dates still to come.

Luxembourg

Luxembourg will use a national final yet again to choose their artist. The Luxembourg Song Contest will be held on January 25.

Montenegro

The nation is returning to Eurovision and is holding a national final for the first time since 2019. Eurosong will be held on 27 November with songs expected at the beginning of that month.

Norway

Norway's long-running Melodi Grand Prix will choose their entry for Basel. Artists will be announced in January with other details still to come.

Portugal

Portugal will hold their popular national final Festival da Canção. Semi-finals are due in February with the final in March (dates for both TBC).

San Marino

The final of Una Voce Per San Marino will be held on 22 February. Many rounds of auditions and heats are expected, with dates still to come.

Spain

Benidorm Fest will be used to select Spain's entry again in 2025. Semi-finals will be held on 28 and 30 January with the final on February 1.

Sweden

Sweden's famous Melodifestivalen will again choose their Eurovision 2025 entry. Heats will begin from February 1 with the final due on March 8.

Ukraine

Vidbir will be used to select Ukraine's artists yet again. Artists will be announced on January 17 with the final in February (date TBC).

First dates

With all that information, the first events coming up are:

November 27: Montenegro

December (date TBC): Albania

What about Australia?

We don't have confirmation that Australia is competing at Eurovision 2025, though many expect us to be there.

Whether an artist will be chosen or internal is not known yet.

Does that mean all other nations are choosing internally?

Not necessarily. The selection season is always unpredictable and many nations are yet to announce how they will select. More national finals are expected to be added in due course.
