‘Eurovision – Australia Decides’ TikTok wildcard: more contenders



Back in December, SBS launched a national TikTok contest to find the next ‘Eurovision – Australia Decides’ artist to join the 2022 line up on the Gold Coast.


Participants are to audition by posting a video on the platform using the #EurovisionAustralia hashtag.



The #EurovisionAustralia hashtag has now garnered over 33 million views on TikTok with a lot of Aussies submitting their videos online.


Below we'll showcase some more of the video auditions for the TikTok Wildcard contest:


Ignasyo

Jose Ignacio Gonzalez Herrera aka Ignasyo is a singer who loves to showcase his vocals. He features many videos of himself busking on the streets of Sydney. His Taylor Swift cover got the attention of Dami Im who made a reaction video on her TikTok, which you can check out here.


He has released music on Spotify with his most streamed song being 'I don't belong here'. He has also featured on Triple J's Unearthed radio.



Agof26

Agof26 is from Dubbo, New South Wales and has over one thousand followers on TikTok. He features covers of songs by Michael Bolton, Europe and Queen. His cover of John Farnham's 'Two Strong Hearts' which he used as his TikTok audition video showcases his amazing vocals while singing in his backyard.



Jessica Stokes

Jessica Stokes competed on season 10 of The Voice Australia. She is a vocal coach, choreographer and runs a live entertainment business called Soul Collective. The Brisbane-based artist has been a back up singer for Australia's Eurovision 2018 representative Jessica Mauboy during one of Mauboy's national tours. She has performed with many Australian artists.


In her audition video Jessica shows off her vocals with a cover of Robin S' 'Show Me Love'.



Omar Dean

Omar Dean is a Melbourne-based artist. His most streamed song on Spotify is a 2018 release, 'Too Far Gone' with over 177,000 streams. He has a huge following on Instagram with over 169 thousand followers and on TikTok with over 12 thousand followers. On his Instagram account Omar has uploaded covers of songs from many artists including Frank Ocean, Justin Bieber and The Weeknd, just to name a few.


In his #EurovisionAustralia TikTok video Omar does an amazing cover of Kodaline's 'All I Want'.



Roxane LeBrasse

Roxane LeBrasse is a Mauritian-born Australian singer who completed on the third season of Australian Idol where she finished in 9th place in 2005. After Idol she continued a music career working with Jimmy Barnes, Jade MacRae and Australia's first Eurovision representative Guy Sebastian. She also joined the pop, dance and R&B group The Rockmelons. Roxane released a debut single called 'Sexy' which reached No. 91 on the ARIA singles chart. In 2020 she featured on 'The Voice Australia'.


On TikTok Roxane has uploaded a beautiful rendition of her singing 'Loose' by Daniel Caesar.



TikTok wildcard contest


Think you've got what it takes to represent Australia at the Eurovision Song Contest?


There is still time to upload your audition video on to TokTok.


Here are a couple things you need to know:

  • To enter you need to be Australian and over 16 years of age

  • You need to post a vocal performance clip, up to one minute long on TikTok

  • Don't forget to use the hashtag #EurovisionAustralia

  • You can sing what ever you like

  • You can perform the song how ever you like

  • There are no restrictions on the number of videos you can submit

  • You can submit a video as an individual or as a group with up to six members in total

  • The competition ends on Sunday 16 January 2022 at 11:59PM (AEST)


A panel of industry experts will determine the winner, who will go on to round out a total line-up of 11 incredible artists on the Gold Coast - all chasing their dreams to represent Australia at Eurovision 2022 in Turin, Italy.
