We profile the 2025 entry from Finland, including details on the artist, song, selection process, odds, fan reaction, and Finland's Eurovision history.
Finland has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 57 times since its first appearance in 1961, and has only missed five editions since in that time. Early success evaded the nation, with it taking 45 years before Finland celebrated its first and only Eurovision win in 2006 with Lordi's Hard Rock Hallelujah.
In the 2020s, Finland has delivered popular entries to the contest, including two top-ten finishes in Blind Channel’s Dark Side (2021, 6th place) and Käärijä’s Cha Cha Cha (2023, 2nd place), which won the televote in Liverpool.
Hoping to come and take Eurovision glory for Finland in Basel this year is Erika Vikman with her song Ich Komme. Erika aims to continue Finland's Eurovision qualification streak of four consecutive grand final appearances.

About the artist
Born in Tampere, Finland, 32-year-old singer Erika Vikman hails from a musical family. Her mother was a tango singer, and her sister Jennika is also a singer. Following her mother's footsteps, Erika began singing as a teenager, winning the girls' division of the 2008 tango competition.
Erika gained national recognition in 2016 by winning the Finnish tango singing competition Tangomarkkinat, the world's oldest tango music festival. Following the competition, Erika signed with Sony Music, releasing her first single in 2017 and beginning her foray into electropop music.
Dedicated Eurovision fans may remember Erika Vikman for competing in Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK) 2020, placing second with her entry Cicciolina. A fan favourite, the song became Erika Vikman's first top 5 hit in Finland. Later that same year, she placed third in the Finnish version of The Masked Singer, performing as the 'Wasp' mask.
The following year, Erika released her debut self-titled studio album, which went on to peak at number 1 in the Finnish charts.
About the song
Laden thick with double (and in some cases quadruple) entendre, Ich Komme combines Finnish disco with electronic music.
Ich Komme was written and produced by Christel Roosberg and Jori Roosberg (Roos + Berg). Christel Roosberg, also known as Chisu, is a powerhouse pop icon in the Finnish music scene. With two number-one albums and three number-one singles, she is one of the top-selling artists in Finland.
The lyrics of Ich Komme reflect "the joyous message of pleasure, ecstasy, and a state of trance", with its musical structure reflecting sexual pleasure and reaching orgasm.
The song has racked up 8 million streams on Spotify and 2.9 million views on YouTube.
How was Erika Vikman chosen for Eurovision?
Finland's Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK) 2025 was a musical spectacular, featuring Finland's biggest names in music and Eurovision superstars.
After metalcore band One Morning Left was disqualified from the competition and subsequently disbanded before the final due to one of their band members being ineligible to participate, UMK 2025 featured six stellar acts vying for the top honour of representing Finland at Eurovision. The winner of UMK was decided 75% by the public vote and 25% by professional juries.
Erika Vikman won the competition comfortably with a total of 430 points, beating out jury winner Goldielocks, who garnered 303 points in total. The breakdown was as follows:
Erika Vikman – Ich komme: 68 points from the jury, 362 from the public.
Goldielocks – Made Of: 74 points from the jury, 229 from the public.
Nelli Matula – Hitaammin hautaan: 50 points from the jury, 88 from the public.

So, is Finland coming to take Eurovision victory and a second win for the Nordic nation at the contest? Only time will tell. But one thing is for sure: Erika Vikman will have all of Europe grabbing their towels!
Finland will compete in the second Semi-Final of the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest on 15 May 2025 in Basel.
